Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Palais des Papes was built in the 14th century and consists of two buildings: the old palace of Benedict XII and the new palace of Clement VI. Thanks to the HistoPad provided at the beginning of the visit, dive into the Middle Ages and relive the daily life of the first popes of Avignon.During this virtual experience, you will be amazed by the immensity of this largest medieval fortress and the biggest Gothic palace in the world. The 15,000 square meters of living space are the equivalent of 4 Gothic cathedrals. Visit the papal intimate gardens with direct access from the apartments which have been restored to their former glory with the re-creation of the griffin fountain and flower meadow. At the end of the visit, climb up to the terraces of the Palais des Papes. They offer a superb view over the main courtyard of the palace but also over the city of Avignon and the Rhône.

Have more more arrows showing the right direction of the visite and posted names of the rooms. And you can drop the history pad totally worthless. The type of telephone system used on the Pont du Rhône much more useful. The Garden was the best.

Memes tarifs que sur le site officiel. Il manquait le qrcode sur les billets d'entree. Mais après consultation, tout s'est bien passé.On nous a laissé entrer. Les ipads n'ont pas été faciles à manier (mauvaises explications avant la visite). Mais la visite et les jardins valent vraiment la peine.

Très belle endroit à visiter.
La visite se fait à l'aide d'une tablette avec laquelle il faut scanner des QR codes en fonction de l'endroit où l'on se trouve pour avoir des explications.
Celle-ci n'est pas très efficace !!

Très bien pour la facilité de réservation mais il serait vraiment bien de pouvoir choisir l'heure au moment de la réservation ! Aucune heure n'était indiquée sur le billet reçu par mail, il nous a fallu attendre le mail du lendemain pour connaître l'heure d'entrée et encore, écrite en tout petit.

Le Palais des Papes est magnifique en extérieur. A l intérieur et le jardin c est banal. C est vide . Nous étions 3 . La visite avec la tablette n est pas intuitive.
L exposition de Miss Tic n a rien à faire dans ce lieu. Inadmissible.

La tablette est un peu compliquée à manipuler. Il faut trop de clics pour parvenir aux explications sur les salles. On met du temps à comprendre qu’il faut scanner les écus d’or des qu’on entre dans une pièce.

Dommage qu'il n'y ai plus de meubles d'époque ou du moins de reconstitution de pièces à l'identique. Les tablettes sont une bonne idée mais au bout d'un moment il n'y a plus que des visiteurs qui regardent un lieu magnifique à travers un écran. Sinon malgré la chaleur et le monde c'était superbe.

La réception des visiteurs est très bien faite ! Le seul point négatif est l’accès au jardin qui n’a pas été possible j’en qu’Avignonnais depuis 78 ans , par ailleurs il manque une conotation religieuse Et un grand bravo pour les œuvres exposées de Mde Jospin qui sont magnifiques !

De werking Vannieuwkerke histopad was niet erg duidelijk.
Als er zo veel Nederlandssprekende mensen het paleis bezoeken is het niet te begrijpen dat er geen Nederlandse versie is, dat kan toch niet zo moeilijk zijn om dat te voorzien.
We hadden ook meer aankleding verwacht van het paleis.

Histopad : du son eut été intéressant (cf ce qui a été fait aux Bernardins pour Notre Dame de Paris).
Montrer la pièce en couleurs et sans animation est nuisible à l'imagination (particulièrement des enfants, certains déçus - entendu sur place).

Une belle visite, malgré le monde et la chaleur. Un peu compliqué au départ de se servir des tablettes et de voir comment ça fonctionne. Beaucoup d'escaliers à prendre mais cela doit être difficile de rendre accessible un si beau et ancien palais..
Il y avait une très belle exposition d' Eva Jospin.

Hat alles.super geklappt mit der Kartenbestellung.Leider war der Papstpalast eine Baustelle,was sicherlich notwendig ist,jedoch für Besucher nicht so schön ist. Als Entschädigung war der Garten schön anzusehen.
