The sunrise itself was beautiful. The driver was 30 mins late picking us up which was fine as he still got us there 30 mins before sunrise. It was blowing a hooley up there so an extra 30 mins would have been very uncomfortable. My issue is that there was no communication. He didn’t ring us and there was no one for us to ring as the offices didn’t open til 8. The driver was very apologetic. He was also very friendly.

Top: Sonnenaufgang, Flop: das Frühstück war lecker, aber man hätte es an einem besseren Ort einnehmen können. Z.B. direkt auf dem Pico. Ansonsten wären es nur noch 20min gewesen und wir hätten unser Frühstück im hotel noch bekommen. Auf das Frühstück hätte ich verzichten können.

Der Ausflug, auf den Berg insgesamt, war super. Dadurch, daß wir mit dem Bus hoch fuhren, mussten wir nicht allzu weit laufen. Es waren enorm viele Leute auf dem Berg, was sich allerdings gut verteilte. Unser Reiseführer hat sich wirklich sehr bemüht und hatte Decken und Kaffee für uns dabei. Die Aussicht und der Sonnenaufgang waren grandios, wenn es auch sehr windig und kalt war, aber das wurde zuvor ja auch mitgeteilt, dass es entsprechend kalt sein kann. Das Frühstück war nicht mein Fall.

The sunrise itself is spectacular, we were lucky with the weather. What I was surprised at was the number of people there , looking for that tic tok /, Instagram shot...and with several drones too that sort of spoilt the magic of the moment. We were collected on time and can't fault driver/guide . Good breakfast after at restaurant on way down. The sunrise is superb , and worth the 5am get up for.

Sunrise over Pico do Arieiro was an amazing experience, we loved it and our driver/guide was fabulous. He was friendly, professional and drove safely. Coffee and blankets were provided but fortunately it wasn't that cold during our visit. Would highly recommend this trip.

Koffie van de gids bij aankomst was top. Ook dat hij dekentjes bij zich had tegen de kou. Ontbijt was zeer minimaal. Sla dat maar over. Je bent op tijd terug in het hotel, zodat je daar nog kunt ontbijten.

Prompt collection, friendly driver. Got us to where we needed to be before it got too busy. The sunrise was spectacular, I only wish I owned a better camera. Coffee and breakfast was good, it was only a small breakfast but was back at the hotel on time for a 2nd one! Al in all a very memorable trip and worth every penny.

Abholung hat super geklappt, mit einem guten Fahrer und nach drei, vier anderen Hotels, ging es hoch zum Pico. Oben am Berg an allen Mietwagenfahrern vorbei… näher ran ging nicht. Total tollen Blick gehabt und anschließend ein paar Kilometer entfernt, ein schönes, lokales Frühstück ein einem netten lokal genossen… nur zu empfehlen, insb. ohne eigenem Wagen… oben kassierte die Polizei einige ab…

Ich finde das man das Frühstück weglassen kann. Da man das ja im Hotel bekommt. Und so 1 Stunde mehr vom Tag hätte. Dadurch könnte man den Ausflug etwas günstiger anbieten

Unfortunately, it was very cloudy and we were unable to see the sunrise. Personally, i think locals would know whether you would be able to seethe sunrise and the trip should be cancelled if it is unlikely or rescheduled. The pick up was punctual and driver drove well up to the mountain. Only coffee offered and not tea. Breakfast was a mixture of hot and continental which was fine. Overall expensive for what it was.

Das Timing war optimal, super tolle Sonnenauffangsposition, früh aufstehen lohnte sich. Frühstück würde ich aus dem Angebot nehmen, da es im Hotel eines inkl. und besseres gibt, oder alternativ was direkt am Aussichtspunkt ausgeben.

Wij hebben geen zonsopgang gezien. Alles zat blijkbaar in de wolken. De chauffeur van het minibusje heeft nog even gewacht. Helaas zonder gunstig gevolg. SUNRISE OVER PICO DO ARIEIRO zat letterlijk in de wolken.

The excursion was in mid April and we arrived about an 50 minutes before sunrise, which was a bit long standing when it was only 7 deg C (we are warned to wear warm clothes) and were left at top of the Mountain on a concrete platform next to a radio mast and an automatic weather station. Thought may be only needed 30 mins. On return to the transport after sunrise you understand why to get the best spot for people and parking as there were hundreds on the mountain and parking was chaotic.

The only reason I can't give better feedback is it didn't happen. The weather was terrible, very windy, raining and no visibility at all, so couldn't see anything or even get out of the vehicle.

I’d suggest to advise participants to bring a torch if possible, to prepare for walking around in the darkness after getting off the mini bus. Most people used the torch on their mobile phone to light up the steps ahead. The drivers were attentive and professional. They several us a small coffee and a fleece blanket each which weren’t expected.

Der Sonnenaufgang über den Wolken war atemberaubend. Es war traumhaft zu sehen wie die Sonne alles zum strahlen bringt und die Berge gegenüber von der Sonne ihre volle Gestallt zeigen. Das Essen danach war gut, kleine Auswahl, man ist satt geworden.

Everybody should understand that you are on a mountain in the dark! Listen to your guide it’s his job to make sure you’d safe But the position he guided us too was absolutely spot on! Be back at the bus when your told not 15mins later as your breakfast was timed to be ready You’re responsible for you! And the people your with you

Abholung und Betreuung waren hervorragend. Einzige kleine Kritikpunkte waren einmal das der Aufenthalt nach dem Sonnenaufgang durchaus 30min länger sein sollte und auch die Zeit für das Frühstück ist zu kurz bemessen, man kann nicht innerhalb einer halben Stunde das Frühstück reinschlingen und es dann auch noch genießen. Hier sollte der Aufenthalt in der Gaststätte auf 90min verlängert werden.

Loved this experience! The beauty and landscape of Pico is stunning. Definitely worth the 5am wake up call... Our driver was prompt, polite and ensured our little group was looked after. We got to spend a hour up the mountain, it's very cold so bring a jacket and a hat.

Unique experience watching sunrise above the clouds. A lovely driver collected us and took us to the peak. After watching this we were taken for breakfast before being brought back to hotel. Loved everything and would highly recommend. Was told it was cold at the top but we’re from Scotland and it was mildly breezy so take a sweatshirt or long sleeves

Driver was punctual & friendly. Drive was smooth & careful along the twisty roads. When we arrived he gave us hot coffee & blankets & led us a short distance to where we'd watch the sunrise. He made sure we all knew what time to be back at the minibus. The sunrise was beautiful. We had enough time to meander back taking more pictures as we went. Next stop a few minutes away was the restaurant where we had breakfast. Breakfast was nice but the coffee was absolutely awful.

The views at the summit were exquisite and would really recommend seeing. However the breakfast afterward was not as good. Flys on the food and swimming in the orange juice made for a unsavoury breakfast. For a party of 10, there was not that much variety nor quantity. Wasn't a 'traditional' breakfast which one might have expected and makes one wonder if it was worth it at all.

Prompt pick up but the driver didn't speak at all. It would have been nice for him to have informed us about our trip. He just drove stopped and we all just got off the bus and assumed what was going on following the crowds. When we got to breakfast which was very nice he didn't say a word.... again we just assumed we were at breakfast and went in. No communication at all?

Did this trip past year and it was so incredible we did it again. Weather wasnt as clear this time but still enjoyed it. The peak is quite busy as hundreds make the effort each morning but our driver showed us a great place to wait for views. With little ambient light up there the stars are very clear and then as the sun rises above the cloud the scenery is amazing. Breakfast was good afterwards in a local restaurant and we were back in our hotel by around ten am.

Don't know if we were lucky with the weather, but the sunrise over the clouds was spectacular. The transport vehicles were comfortable. The guides were very well organised. We were offered coffee, blankets, and torches which was a nice touch. A true highlight of our time on the island.

Amazing experience. Picked up on time, driven expertly up the mountain roads, led to a great viewing point, given blankets and hot coffee to keep warm,left to savour the moment. Plenty of time to enjoy the views from top of the mountain. Collected and driven to lovely place for a great choice of breakfast. Couldn't recommend this experience more.

A fantastic trip. I think it could have been made even clearer still that it’s very cold at the top. And, although it’s so appreciated to have arrived as early as we did (nearly the first at the peak) it meant we were cold longer than most.

We really enjoyed this, but you REALLY need to listen to the other reviews about wearing warm layers (hat, gloves, coat). We went during a 30-35 degree heat wave and it was FREEZING up there. We were given blankets which helped with the cold, but don’t make our mistake and think ‘no, we will be fine, it can’t be that cold’. The description said you get coffee whilst watching the sunrise, you don’t, but this wasn’t a dealbreaker. The breakfast afterwards was lovely and great for warming up.

Great views tho quite crowded on the top. Communication could have been better about where to go but ultimately just followed the crowd. Breakfast ok in nearby restaurant. Well worth doing for experience and lack of hassle of trying to do yourselves.

The trip was great. But more information is needed if their is a problem or time change. And in your information about the trip you might like to add .. a touch may come in handy because it is dark at the top of the mountain and it would help you walk to the viewing area.

Fantastic experience! We were so lucky to have a clear day so we had a brilliant sunrise. Needs emphasiizng how cold it is on the mountain top. The only niggle i have was our guide went off infront with the torch & it was pitch black so we couldnt see where we were going. I put the torch on my phone. I guess its because hes done it so many times but we hadnt so it was a little scary. Brilliant trip though & well worth the money. Breakfast on the way back down was lovely aswell.

The views and sunrise were excellent. The timings of this trip were poor. We were picked up from our hotel at 5:20am, it was approximately a 40 minute drive to the viewpoint which meant around an hour sitting waiting for the sun to rise at 7:00am. I feel a 6:00am pick up would have seen us get to the viewpoint within plenty of time

The sunrise was well worth the 5am start time. Just beware it was very cold on top of mount Pico. You really do need to dress appropriately. Hats gloves and scarves highly recommended. The clouds were rolling in between the mountains which made the sunrise even more spectacular. After this we stopped for breakfast which again was excellent. A highly recommended trip.

Arrived at location too early in our opinion. We were the first to arrive at the summit when by sunrise a lot of people were there at the location. Had to sit and wait for nearly an hour, feeling rather cold by sunrise even though we had coats, long trousers and blankets were provided. However, the actual sunrise experience was perfect. The breakfast was also very good. The guide was punctual, friendly and attentive.

The guide was great. Helpful and kind. The early start was certainly worth it. Make sure you have lots of warm layers as it honestly is absolutely freezing! We felt the breakfast on the way back was a waste of time and not enjoyable: We would rather have come straight back to the hotel and had breakfast there. An experience we won’t forget though, amazing.

The guide was really helpful and took us to a few locations to get the best view possible of the sunrise due to incoming cloud cover as he can't control the weather !! . It's well worth getting up early to do this as its an amazing experience.

Maybe our expectations were too high but we did expect our driver to be more descriptive. He was nice guy and he picked us up on time and drove safely and well. He was friendly. But he could have described where we were and given us more guidance as he left us to our own devices in the pitch black on top of the mountain. To then find our way back on our own once the sun had risen. The breakfast was also ok but we were shoved out of the way at the back of the restaurant with no one around to request forgotten things like butter or jam. Was very odd. It was an incredible experience to see the sunrise which essentially is what we paid for. Next time we would drive up ourselves and come back to the hotel for breakfast and get the same out of it but will be a lot cheaper.

Didn't know what to expect and was very pleasantly surprised. The views were spectacular waiting for the sun to rise, looking down on the clouds below and gradually seeing the rocky mountainous scene revealed, was quite breathtaking. Would recommend this to all visitors to this wonderful island.

Absolutely beautiful experience, romantic and magical. Was also great to see a different part of the island as well as the sunrise. Breakfast was good on the way back too! Would very much recommend this to all. Side note: make sure to bring warm clothes!!

Fantastic experience from start to finish. Jonas arrived promptly, was very informative and friendly. Coffee and blankets were supplied which was a fantastic enhancement to the experience. Left phone on bus & Jonas kindly brought back to hotel. He is an asset to the business. Thank you Jonas!

Best thing we've done so far - on time pick up, excellent tour guide, smooth drive, minimal walking, great views, lovely breakfast and dropped back to our hotel. Nothing to fault!
