It also includes a traditional Cypriot lunch. Stavroula, one of our local guides on this tour, says, ‘Fikardou village is an excellent example of rural mountain life, where the 19th-century architecture is in complete harmony with the environment.' A real taste of what's to come.Heading inland, you'll arrive mid-morning at rustic and laidback Fikardou. All cobblestones and historic houses, time seems to have frozen here. And with free time to explore, you'll find that ancient traditions still hold their way. It's so well-preserved that it's on UNESCO's tentative list of world heritage sites. Next, you'll head to the 12th-century Macharias Monastery, which is located on a remote hillside. Its lavishly decorated interior houses a sacred icon of the Virgin Mary.Then, it's time for a traditional Cypriot lunch, prepared with locally sourced ingredients and served at a family-run restaurant on the way to Lefkara. The tour ends on a high in charming Lefkara, a village famed for its handmade lace and embroidery. ‘Women, young and old, can be seen seated outside their homes and shops making lace,' says Stavroula. ‘For hundreds of years, the men from the village have travelled all over Europe to sell it, even Leonardo da Vinci bought some.'

Svært kunnskapsrik og velformidlende guide. Hun dekket langt mer enn hva jeg forventet og vi kunne mye mer om Kypros sin historie og hvordan samfunnet her fungerer. Passe lange etapper mellom stoppestedene.

Tour ist abgesagt worden ohne Info am morgen an mich als Kunden weiter zu geben. Eine Unverschämtheit das man keine Info bekommen hat am Voravend, stattdessen wartet man am Morgen des Ausfluges über 1 Stunde um sich da n selbst zu kümmern und betreffende Infos einzuholen!

Wij vonden de uitstap zeer leuk en zeker de maaltijd bij Maria was top. Iets minder was het bezoek aan het dorpje met de zilver smeden we dachten dat daar nog authentieke smeden waren. Maar voor de rest was alles zeer leerrijk doordat de gids ons veel vertelde over Cyprus

One of the dearer trips, but so different and well worth it. Visiting villages high up in the mountains with an excellent lunch. The guide Stavrula, was very knowledgeable and had a sense of humour. Definitely recommend this trip.

Alovely tour food amazing guide really good and informative only problem was we were in the back seats and these were uncomfortable especially leg room and the view non existent the air conditioning was poor I am afraid we drew the short straw we felt these seats should not be used in this particular vehicle . I know it would be difficult to price accordingly but it was really unfair on the people having to sit in the back

Der Reiseführer Amdreas ist ein wandelndes Lexikon. Er hat uns während der Fahrt die Flora und Fauna Zyperns hautnah erklärt. So ein unendliches Wissen! War sehr interessant. Das Essen bei Anna war viel zu viel. Aber extrem köstlich.

A great trip to see the other side of Cyprus - totally different from the coast. Our guide Slav was lovely. Her knowledge was immense & delivered very well. Would say that people with mobility issue may struggle as there's quite a lot of on & off the mini bus & the short walk around Fikardou was very up & down & uneven under foot. We loved the day. It the included drink & lunch stops, they were good quality too. Well worth the cost .

Brilliant from start to finish with such a friendly and knowledgeable guide! The tiny village for breakfast followed by a tour of the cottages & then the monestry followed by amazing such at Maria's. Stunning scenery on our way down the mountain & then our last stop a larger village with an abundance of lace & silver makers. All on all a brilliant day & would definitely recommend to anyone!

Although I had tipped the bus driver €7.5 he closed the door on me while I was still on the step grazing my arm drawing blood as I am almost 80 yrs old and quite inform I think he should have had more consideration the tour guide however could not havd been any nicer

Our guide Maria was clear, fun and very knowledgeable. Explained lots about what we could see, where we were going. The food was delicious and plenty of it. Stunning views, lovely to see the traditional Cypriot villages. The Russian church and monastry were like nothing I'd seen before. Only thing that let the trip down was no air con on minibus, just air vent blower overhead. We asked repeatedly for air con to be turned on, but appeared it didn't work. It was very hot and uncomfortable

Die Fahrt in einer Kleingruppe mit einem kleinen BUS Mercedes Sprinter war super angenehm. Das Mittagessen bei Maria war sehr fein. Erschocken bin ich und die andren Teilnehmer am viel zu viel Essen serviert. Es war alles sehr fein aber viel zu viel und es wurde nachher alles weggeschmissen. Voll Krass. Nicht weit weg verhungern Menschen oder bringen sich wegen Hunger um. Die Hälftre hätte gereicht um zu geniessen/kosten was Tarditionsküche of Zypern ist. Der Begleiter sprach schlecht Deutsch!

The snack at the first stop was poor but the food at the lunch stop was good. Several people found it difficult to navigate around the deserted village with very steep steps in the museum and uneven footpaths around the site. This should be made clear at the time of booking but we were told that there was not a problem for people with minor mobility issues.

Great day trip. Only marked down due to the early pick up and stops to pick up other guests. We were on bus over an hour before we actually set off. But guide was good. Driver too. Fantastic lunch at Maria's.

It was great to learn more about the history of the country we are visiting. The food provided to us was absolutely delicious. Only constructive criticism is that we didn't know the tour guide was joining us after all guests had been collected by the driver. It was a relief to then have the tour guide on board as she was lovely and informative about the places we were visiting.

From start to finish, everything was fantastic! The brand new mini bus was air conditioned and comfortable and our driver Theo was very welcoming and good fun. Our guide Stav was brilliant, clear perfect English and extremely knowledgeable about the island and the areas we were visiting. The village of Fikardo was fascinating, the monastery and the historical importance was also. The village of Lefkara with the lace makers and interesting shops was the perfect finish to a wonderful trip.

We really enjoyed the tour. The journey to and from was a nightmare, especially for my husband and myself. We first got on the minibus, there were 4x2 of seats three were taken up we sat on fourth. We soon realised we were sat over the rear wheels. There did not seem to be any suspension, we were getting shaken to our bones. We moved to back seat. One of the seats in the back was broken, there was one which had been replaced with a different coloured seat.

Driving was over white line, which was alerting on dashboard for not staying in white lines, not staying in middle of lines (someone raised this to the guide, and told them it was scaring them, she laughed) - did not slow down for speed bumps, a child sitting behind us cried due to hurting herself - Driver lost on two occasions , on second occasion got out for a cigarette while waiting for guide who got on bus Bus temperature went up to 36.8,

This has got to have been one of the best informative tours I have been on. The guide, Olga, gave us so much information about Cyprus there’s still little snippets coming back to me. Not only was she very knowledgeable about where we went but she also gave us an insight to daily life in Cyprus. Plants, villages, weddings, the list is endless. I also liked that it was a small group (16). I can’t think of anything you could improve upon.

Olga, our tour guide, was amazing! Lots of really intersting information about the island, the villages, and about life for local Cypriots. Food was some of the best I've had on the island, and the locations were beautiful. The roads were a bit long and winding,, but so worth it to see all the stunning views. Wish the experience could have lasted longer.

Wycieczka z lokalna przewodniczka - Maria rodowita cypryjska pieknie opowiadala o wyspie a tlumaczka Ida ma równiez ogromna wiedze. A program? Wioska Fikardu to niesamowite przezycie - mozna poczuc sie jak w XIX wieku, uzupelnieniem bylo sniadanie z lokalnych produktów. Potem Klasztor Macharias, gdzie jest Ikona Matki Bozej od noza. Potem tradycyjny obiad w stylu meze w rodzinnej tawernie - jedzenie i wino nie do przejedzenia! Na koniec urocze miasteczko Lefkara z koronkami i srebrem. Polecam!

Es war ein sehr interessanter und gut organisierter Trip. Unser Guide war sehr nett. Sie war sehr auf die Botanik fokussiert, aber auch andere interessante Themen zur Insel kamen nicht zu kurz. Für Menschen, denen beim Busfahren schlecht wird, könnte dieser Trip eine Herausforderung sein.

It was lovely seeing a part of cyprus that you normally wouldn't. The trip went well and the guide was very knowledgeable. I would not recommend this trip if your first language was not English. The food at lunch was fantastic. A meat mezze and we were all satisfied when we left. It was a very relaxed tour and we did not feel rushed at anytime. Perhaps a little on the expensive side but for me it was value for money. Those with mobility may struggle in the deserted village. I recommend this.

This, by far, was the best trip I've been on in many years, and I've been on a few in Cyprus. The guide (Stav for short) was amazing. Her English, her knowledge and her ability to keep us well informed was 10/10 all round. 3 villages, 2 meals, a wealth of historical and current knowledge was fantastic. The full day 'adventure' was well thought through from the TUI rep to the Cypriot guide, everything was faultless. Highly recommended!

The trip had plenty of stops so you weren't on the minibus too long. The commentary was very informative. The first stop the olives and food were fantastic lovely seeing the history of the village. The minks at the church were lovely and an amazing look at beautiful artifacts. The meal after was awesome great value for money. The lace village at the end was beautiful great experience

Sehr gute Begleitung der Tour. Sehr viele gute Informationen und gutes Wissen des Guides. Tolle Einblicke ins Leben im Innern der Insel. War alles gut organisiert.

It was a great day out with the best ever lunch being included. Only one little comm and that is that although the minibus was comfortable and well driven, it needed some upgrading on the inside.

Die Tour vermittelte einen guten Überblick über das ursprüngliche Leben in den Gebirgsdörfern. Die Beköstigung war ausgezeichnet. Die Erläuterungen während der Fahrt waren lehrreich, bei den Stopps vor Ort etwas dünn. Die Geschwindigkeit des Bus war im Gebirge manchmal grenzwertig.

Sehr viel fahren. Ziele nett. Frühstück SB,Brot,Oliven und Wasser. Minimalistisch Mittag noch mittelmäßig. Führer und Fahrer sehr gut.

Es war ein wunderbarer Ausflug in das Gebirge mit sehenswerten Stopps und guter Betreuung. An dem Reiseführer ist zu bemängeln, dass er zu wenig Informationen über das Land gegeben hat, dafür sehr viele botanische Erläuterungen, wobei auch jedesmal die lateinischen Namen genannt wurden. Das mag alles auch interessant sein, aber mehr landestypische Informationen hätten wir bevorzugt und diese auch aus der gegenwärtigen Zeit. Ansonsten war er aber sehr nett und höflich.

Vi var mycket i bilen _ ungefär 4 timmar. Luftkonditionering fungerade, men det var väldigt varm. Jag skulle vilja veta ett detaljerad beskrivning av utflykten: vi åker 2 timmar, vi har en liten stopp för toalett, vi äter traditionell frukost i Fikardou ( jag fick veta från guiden, men det viste jag inte innan. Jag åt frukost på hotellet, så jag kunde inte njuta av den traditionella frukosten). Jag gillade inte stämningen- väldigt många människor på Marias restaurang ( maten var väldigt gott)

Guide svær at forstå. Dårlig forplejning morgen. Frokost OK. Dårlig placering i bussen. Turen var absolut samlet set ikke pengene værd.

Sehr schöne Tour. Interessant und erlebnisreich. Tourguide Andreas sehr humorvoll und kenntnisreich was Botanik und Geschichte Zyperns angeht. Allerdings waren seine lebhaften Ausführungen im Bus nicht immer deutlich zu verstehen.

Utsikten från bussen var bra för dom dom satt på fönsterplats men inte från inre säten. Något stopp vid någon utsiktsplats kanske. Lite för kort tid i Fikardou för att uppleva platsen. Guidningen var bra, med självupplevd info från bergslivet.

Die Dörfer waren traumhaft, die Reiseleiterin war top, der Busfahrer sehr nett und lustig. Das Essen war köstlich, rundum eine gelungene Veranstaltung.
