Pure relaxation awaits on this trip to Saona Island. If you're looking for that perfect Insta-ready escapade, you've found it. Saona is a textbook tropical daydream of an island, swathed in exotic flora and fringed with swaying palm trees, powder white sands and endless blue-green waters. You'll reach the island in a combination of catamaran and fast boat, with an outbound snorkel stop.Ramon, one of our expert guides, says "we work hard to protect our pristine environment and all the species that make it so special. We were the first country to protect manatees by law, and we have a turtle conservation programme here on Saona, too." The island and surrounding sea are of such importance for their biodiversity that they're protected as a national park.You'll set sail from Bayahibe into the sun-splashed seas surrounding Cotubanama National Park. Along the way, you'll stop to swim or snorkel among shoals of tropical fish at a shallow pool formed by sandbanks in the middle of the sea. Once you arrive at Saona, you'll have plenty of time to soak up those dazzling vistas and snap lots of photos. Great trip but not what was told.. No bar given on island rep poor worst on any visit I had.. Not see star fish as described by rep just said over as went to beach instead.. Food on island was acceptable but limited refreshments or drinks. Poor value for money if being honest. Beach was fantastic however.

The location was stunning. The crew on both boat trips were fantastic. The food that was on offer was great but the bbq meat was slightly overcooked as it had been left cooking for too long before we were served, but it was still good and I enjoyed it, but being a chef myself I know it could of been better, I don’t want to sound critical however I want to give constructive feedback

Erg commerciëel! Alle boten maken tussenstops op dezelfde plaatsen, één mierennest aan mensen. Tocht naar Saona is heel mooi, maar ook daar weer één mensenmassa op het strand wanneer je van boord moet.

Love the variety of activities and fun of the open bar in the sea. Only aspect not so great was being told it was all inclusive trip and then finding out a special drink on the island was extra. Don’t mind paying but would have been good to know as to bring more money

We had a fantastic time. However, there was no available seats in the allocated eating area. Lucky, three people gave up their seats to allow our young children to sit down. Additionally, we had to eat our food with our fingers as no knifes and forks were made available. Even after asking. Apart from the lunch time we enjoyed the day

Globalement belle expérience , je recommanderai. Néanmoins juste deux points négatifs : la disposition des tables au moment du buffet, pas assez de place pour tout le monde, des personnes ont mangé debout et pas d’intimité. Le deuxième point, des parasols pour pouvoir se mettre à l’ombre . Sans zone d’ombre c’était assez difficile à supporter.

The island, very pretty. The transport was smooth and well organised. However, it felt like a school trip rather than a vip experience - go sit eat here, sunbathe there etc. There was no information about Seona island just going on about hotel developments. It would have been nice to snorkle peacefully and learn about the island at least. There needs to be transparency about the cost of this pineapple drink too. The guide kept pushing this and we were unprepared to pay for 5 as soon as we arr

More information required at time of booking about transfer time to Habibe marina, snorkeling, swim time and time at Saona Island. Risky transfer from speedboat to catarman even with boat hands. Generous lunch and wide selection of food. Limited drinks ie rum, coke sprite - a fruit punch would have been more refreshing on both land sea. Friendly staff and Saona is idyllic and able to swim confidently I could stand in it (only 5ft 3ins). Highly recommend but a 12 hour day.

Separate to the above review can I please ask you try to educate all your guides regarding star fish they told guests they could pick them up as long as they were in the water nobody should touch star fish this can cause them to die and I found it quite distressing please put the message out Thsnk you

For me personally, while this was the trip I was looking forward to the most, it was the most disappointing. The catamaran was good, snorkeling good and not major complaints. We had 3.5 hours on the island, with lunch within the first 30 minutes of arrival. The island was beautiful but very little to do. It needs water activities other than swimming. It was a little boring not much to do for kids or adults.

There was children on the trip .it states age 13+ and there was four kids on the trip under 6yrs of age . On the the speed boat back the music was so loud and dreadful it gave me bad ears for the rest of the night! It was dangerous loud! Also boat staff very unprofessional making rude gestures and started conflict with a family on the speed boat.. want my money back..

Ik begin met een minpunt. Het snorkelen stelde niets voor, zeker niet voor iemand met ervaring. Al de rest was ontzettend aangenaam. De gids maakte veel leuke grapjes en bracht iedereen aan het lachen. Het was genieten in de zon op de catamaran en de muziek was voortreffelijk gekozen. We hebben meegezongen en meegedanst. Het eiland Saona was idyllisch en het eten was prima. Het was een dagje paradijs.

there is nothing at Saona island, in the pictures it looked like luxury but when you get there it is quite the opposite. They dump you on the island with no shops, barely any drinks but good food at least. There is no music or any fun, full of mosquitoes, just was not a pleasant experience. It was not an enjoyable trip, it was more like visiting a deserted island. The trip was good when we came back on the way back on the catamaran where we were allowed to play and dance to music.

Our tour guide mesa was amazing. He kept us informed during the entire trip and he had a lovely sense of humor. The boat staff were just as good and ensured we were kept topped up with drinks etc. The swimming pool area was amazing with starfish visible, the ocean was gorgeous. Mesa ensured we knew where we needed to be and when. The island itself is gorgeous, the food and the drink as part of the experience was also amazing. Es war schon unser dritter Besuch der Insel. Läuft immer gleich ab, einfachstes Essen (Toast, Obst) Getränke mit viel Rum können selbst geholt werden. Schon im Hafen ist eine ältere Frau beim umsteigen zwischen den Booten gerutscht und stark gequetscht. Die Taucherbrille zum Schnorcheln war undicht, weil eingerissen. Musik ist viel zu laut. Auf der Rücktour mit Motorboot wurden wir nass, leider auch unsere Handtücher und dann im kalten Bus das gab eine Erkältung.

The trip was over crowded, we were crammed like sardines on a speed boat where we couldn’t sit together as a family, it made the experience not enjoyable at all! Then on the way back on the katamaran we were again crammed in, literally couldn’t move. We paid for supreme thinking we would be in a smaller group of people as we were told by the TUI rep, this put us off booking anymore experiences and didn’t bother. Excellent trip. Our guide Mato was very knowledgeable, he stayed with us the full day. The speed boat and catamaran were fantastic as were the swimming stops. The staff were excellent and the drinks never stopped flowing even when you were swimming. Soana island is a bit of paradise so beautiful and tranquil. We would recommend paying a little extra and booking this trip. Plenty of room on both boats, sunbeds for everyone, copious amounts of food and drinks. Family Mato!!

£130 per person I think I was. Definitely was not worth that amount of money. I do not know the difference between the “soana Supreme” I purchased and the regular £95 soana cruise. Nothing was supreme about being crammed on a boat and having to wait loads. You should be telling people the destination on the booking page. 1 hr and 20 minutes by bus was not on the description. If I could have a reduction in price I wouldn’t be so mad but it was not worth the £130 I was charged.

Our guide Bambi was very informative. All the staff we met were also good. The trip to saona was good we enjoyed it, however the travelling was a lot. It took up most of our time. We spent around 6 hours travelling and 2/3 on the beach. The beach was lovely to look at but not much to do. The food was good but only 3 drinks to choose from at the bar. I felt the whole trip was unorganised. I didn’t feel safe on the boat as we had to transfer to another boat in the middle of the sea.

We booked this by mistake as we really wanted to snorkel. In all, we got 20 minutes of snorkelling which was great but we assumed there would be sealife in the water at Saona. There wasn’t. Plenty of humans though! Saying that, the catamaran trip was really good fun thanks to the boat hand who got everyone dancing. The food and drink was average on the island. The beach was beautiful for the 2.5 hours we were there.

The whole day was organised well and were kept up to date with info through the excursion. However we were having a great day until the catamaran on the way back where we were subjected to ear piecing levels of music. My watch didn’t go much below 100db and for 2 hours this was unacceptable. At no point in the booking process or description it say anything about being blasted with music. We were not the only ones on the way back feeling like this, however felt we couldn’t say anything.

Die Organisation war prima Leider ist dem Speedboot auf dem Heimweg der Sprit ausgegangen, was den Ausflug in die Länge gezogen hat. Die Schwimmstops waren toll. Die Insel ist sehr schön.

1. Took 2 1/2 hours to get there due to number of pickups. 2. Boat broke down twice on way back 3. Specially asked our rep if there would be seaweed and told there would not, but there was lots of it 4. Was due to get back by 6:30pm but didn’t get back until 8pm and so had to rush to dinner as it was closing- was unable to get showered and changed.

The boat was dirty and appeared poorly maintained. The “lunch” consisted of some sandwich bread with a thin slice of meat and cheese which was stored unrefrigerated in tubs on the boat for who knows how long in 90+ degree weather with salt spray constantly washing overboard. Then they handed out cheese cubes and chunks of “mystery meat” that had been stored unrefrigerated in the same manner. Once arriving on the island drinks were served in Dixie cups (laughable), and the food was 4th rate.

Excellent day out. The guide Castro was amazing very funny and I would say made the day. The boat/ catermaran crew were also excellent and engaged with the group up dancing and singing excellent again making the day more special. Would definitely recommend.

Long journey and having to keep being transferred. Long long day and took a long time to get back to our hotel as we were lastvdrop off . Food amazing loved it and choice of drinks were good. Nice smallish group and our guide was excellent. Very humble and very grateful. Down side everybody expected a tip on speed boat. Catamaran and guide. This is the second time we have done this trip and the island is beautiful. Not to busy as we went early.

TEAM CASCO! Guide amazing and fun from start to finish stayed with our group of 25 the whole day. Speed boat snorkeling natural pool private section of lounges on the island. Buffet lunch amazing. Speed boat going catermeran back, always offered drinks and had a sing along and party on way back. Defo recommend private as well planned small group compared to other people's experience of the cheaper option who we met on resort. Shout out to our guid Casco.

Would like to say what an amazing excusion & day out this was.. took us to not only most beautiful destinations but also most interesting aswell.. our tour guide danny was hillarious aswell as very friendly & helpful. The staff on the cateramen was all very friendly & all knew how to make you feel at eaze, welcome & got you in the party mood caribbean style. Food was lovely & plenty of it & the rum never stopped if drinking is your thing, soft drinks & water are availiblle aswell

We really enjoyed this excursion, especially the snorkelling, and seeing the island. The lunch was ok, we had a lovely pineapple cocktail that we paid extra for. Staff on the boats, dani the tour guide and everyone on the island extremely friendly and took good care of you. Rum & coke free flowing on the boats but must be a weak rum as some had loads and still standing ??

Seats on catamaran could do with cushions and when you are sat for long period it does get numb feeling. The experience was advertised as private beach but it wasn’t. The food was good and the natural pool was good. But not a lot of selection of drinks. Only rum and beer. We had wine with meal but would’ve been better if this was always on offer.

On the speedboat, the 2nd stop we made there was no rope on the ladder. So when I pulled myself up, I slipped and bashed my shin on the ladder and was intertwined with it. I have a bruise on my shin, it’s swollen and shin splints have formed. The guide was good at the start, but never gave us a warning of what was happening, when we were leaving the island, said we had 3 hours there but was only there for 2. The coach driver constantly using the horn and nearly crashed several times.

We were with Castro , not sure of the guys names on the boat or catamaran but they were fab especially the ones on the catamaran..Castro was very informative and friendly also very funny ??..the price is a bit high but you are out approximately 13 hours so I suppose it reflects on that ..the food was very good at saona bit limited if your a vegetarian as I am ..overall experience was very good ??

The whole trip was amazing. There was lots of snacks and drinks available as well as a lovely lunch . The staff on the boats were brilliant - lots of singing and dancing along the way . Experience sold ,is not the expectations we were given,food on boat very low standard. 2 hours given on the beach and lunch in that time too .10 mins snorkeling. Bottled water should of been given out on boat . We were told all afternoon on the beach, Very expensive for boat trip and food and waiting around for other people. Der Saona Ausflug hat uns Ansich gut gefallen. Die Katamaran fahrt zur Insel sehr schön und entspannt. Achtung, viel Sonnencreme einpacken. Unser Guide Danilo, ( his er glaub ich ) wusste sehr viel interessantes zu erzählen und konnte gut Deutsch. Nicht gut gefallen hat uns... Es gab zwar viel zu trinken, Cola, Sprite und viel Rum aber kein Wasser, was wichtiger ist bei der Hitze. Eine Katastrophe war die rückfahrt mit dem "Schnellboot". Und es war ein 12Std Tag. 3 von 5 Sternen würde ich geben.

Guide Messa war sehr lustig und hat sich Mühe gegeben. Die Musik auf dem Katamaran war viel viel zu laut das hat sich aber nach dem Naturpool geändert als man was dazu gesagt hat. Hätte mir gewünscht etwas näher am Strand vom Naturpool zu halten. Der Aufenthalt auf Saona war leider viel zu schnell um. Das Essen und die Getränke da waren nicht gut. Für Allergiker wie mich fehlten die Beschreibungen überall. Im Bus wurden vom Guide Handyhüllen verkauft die nicht gut sind.. unnötig

Bis zur Ankunft auf der Insel war alles gut organisiert. Die Insel war schön, aber null privat. SEHR viele Leute, dreckiger Strand, aufgewühltes Wasser durch die vielen Boote. Der Guide war ständig weg. Es wurde uns nicht gezeigt, wo man etwas trinken kann. Nachschlag am Grill war nicht gewünscht. Zurück sollten wir mit einem Speedboot fahren. Das war aber nicht der Fall. Das Boot war mit knapp 50 Personen extrem voll und auch null exklusiv. Preis Leistung stimmt nicht. Sehr enttäuschend!!!

Our guide was incredible. Very funny, and very knowledgable. I enjoyed hearing about the good things of DR as well as hearing about its struggles. All of the staff on the boats were amazing…so much fun and made us feel very safe. The setting couldn’t have been more magical and it made a nice change to be out of the resort for a day. It’s a long day, but well worth it and I don’t believe it could be shortened and still feel you had your moneys worth. I could have stayed on the island longer!

We werden optijd opgehaald met een erg luxe tui bus geen grote groep mensen dus niet eerst langs allerei hotels! Heerlijke stoelen en goede airco! Het leuke is dat je met 2 verschillende boten naar en van het eiland gaat. Tussen stop maakt en een lekker drankje in het water kan drinken. Op het eiland hadden we een heerlijke lunch die vers was bereid.

Wonderful day and well worth the money for a bit of calm. Roberto was an amazing guide - TUI are very lucky to have him. Perfectly organised, loved that we got the catamaran first and speedboat back as it worked so much better.

Loved the boat n catamaran crossings however bit uncomfortable on the catamaran as only place to sit really was on the floor. As we are in our 60’s wasn’t the most comfortable being a 2 hour trip. Only disappointment for us was the food on the island itself. Not much choice and I had insects in my salad on my plate.

Our guide Danny (“The President”) was amazing! We started with snorkelling, there were so many fish to see and then a catamaran cruise to saona island. The staff were great constantly providing drinks and food and dancing. Saona island itself was stunning. We also bought fresh pineapple juice in pineapples which was so good. After about 3 hours on the beach we went to the natural swimming pool via speedboat where we got to swim and see/hold starfish. The trip was excellent value for money!

Not worth the travel time. 2 hours on a coach then 2 and a half on a speedboat. stop to Snorkel no fish there then stop on a sandbank to see starfish. The guide found 3 to show us were told not to touch which we didnt but some people took them out of the water for photos and weren't stopped . 3 hours on saona island which is beautiful. 3 hours on catamaran back then 2 hours on a coach to get back to hotel. Long long day.

El catamarán averió el lugar de hacer 45 minutos hicimos dos horas y de regreso nos subieron a un velero, el cual hizo dos horas y media fue una verdadera pesadilla. La comida buffet que nos ofrecieron, estuvo realmente mala con decirles que hasta teníamos miedo de enfermarnos. El guía no paraba de hablar y hacía chistes muy groseros. Me vendieron este Tour diciéndome que era muy seguro para mi bebé de nueve meses y en lo absoluto era apto para un bebé

The whole experience was extremely pleasing, Saona and the views are gorgeous. Our guide Roberto was amazing such a kind and funny man he is extremely good at his job! Only thing which was not as great was the lunch on saona I have been to saona 3 times now and that was much below par compared to before, was not much on offer and all the chicken that was there was pretty much bone and no meat. Apart from that we had an amazing day will be back again one day.

Boat steps were far too high and bottom step was not covered in rope so very sharp on your feet and extremely slippy. Island trip was very overpriced for what you got. Food on the boat and the island not very nice . Drinks were OK ish if you like rum. Snorkeling in a life jacket was very hard to do.

Overall a very good trip for boat lovers , lunch on island of a good standard and toilets cleaner than the last time I did the trip 2 years ago . Guide was friendly enough but more interaction from the previous guide we had 2 years ago . Who laughed and joked and got more envolved with the guests .

The trip was absolutely amazing and worth every penny. The guide - Castro was so entertaining and really did keep us entertained and informed throughout the trip. The coach going and returning was comfortable and had the air conditioning needed. The staff on the boats kept us entertained throughout and made the trip.

Picked up on time, no messing about. Stopped off for 10 minutes,for toilet break, they sell coffee etc also. Got to the harbour to get on the boat which took about 2 hours from hotel. Very very busy, so make sure you keep an eye on your quite. Our guide for the day was Messa, he was friendly, professional and genuinely a nice guy. All the staff on the boat were also friendly,helpful and professional. Great day but a long day.
