Istrië is een mengelmoes van culturen. En met historische steden, glinsterende zeegezichten en heerlijke gerechten is het lastig kiezen waar je eerst van gaat genieten. Op deze dagtocht verken je enkele van de highlights van de regio, waaronder het sfeervolle Rovinj en het eeuwenoude Pula. Ook smul je van een lunch met lokale specialiteiten. Ratko, een van onze deskundige lokale gidsen, zegt: "We leiden je door een gebied waar drie van Europa's grootste culturen samenkomen - Latijns, Germaans en Slavisch. Mijn persoonlijke favoriet is het op vijf na grootste amfitheater ter wereld in Pula - het Istrische 'Rome'.”Je start in het fotogenieke Rovinj dat zich op een ovaal schiereiland bevindt. Je struikelt er over het Venetiaanse verleden wanneer je door de smalle straten met Romeinse en Byzantijnse schatten slentert. Neem een kijkje bij de Sint-Eufemiakerk. Vanaf hier heb je een indrukwekkend uitzicht over de archipel. Dan stop je in het gehucht Gržini voor een typische Istrische lunch in een ‘van boer tot bord' restaurant. En je ziet hoe het eraan toegaat op het platteland.Nadat je je batterijen weer hebt opgeladen, rij je naar de laatste stop van de dag, Pula. Hier komen de tijden van de joelende menigte tot leven als je samen met de gids de torenhoge en opmerkelijk goed bewaarde Romeinse Arena verkent. Daarna heb je ruimschoots de tijd om te wandelen, te relaxen, mensen te kijken en te shoppen. Of je bekijkt gewoon de rest van de stad - boordevol Romeinse overblijfselen - voordat je weer in de bus stapt voor de terugreis.

We had a great day of exploring, Our guide Tin and Bus driver Davos. very knowledgeable and accommodating of the groups needs. Tin made the trip fun and engaging to the range of ages present. We also loved the Lunch at the rural tavan food was delicious and the atmosphere was authentic. We felt we would have liked maybe 10 mins of our own time at the amphitheatre and we would have like a little more time to explore Rovinj (perhaps another 30 mins) Will recommend to others to try out.

Driver and guide were excellent, and the destinations were brilliant. The Amphitheater in Pula is especially worth the visit, but so were the typical Istrian lunch and the town of Rovinj. No real downsides

Excellent start & finish to day in Pula & Rovinj, although for me it was a steep walk up to the church in Rovinj. There wasn’t really any free time as such to explore either Pula or Rovinj. What we weren’t happy with was the so called lunch with a family up in the hills, which was misleading & not as described. It was a restaurant ( couldn’t tell it was a farm at all) & no interaction from them in any way other than to serve the food. The food itself was simple but good.

The tour guide, Tin, was fantastic. Knowledgeable, funny, informative, helpful, energetic, passionate and just wanting to be asked questions. Did this tour about 5 years ago and this time learned so much more than we did the first time. Only thing I think that is a little high is the price. But it was not overly expensive in the long run I guess for the experience that we had.

The guide, Philp was knowledge and helpful. The coach driver and coach were excellent. However, in my opinion, the lunch provided was of poor quality and we the hosts were inhospitable. It would have been better it there had been more free time allowed.

All the historical sites were interesting but it was very rushed, especially in the Pula amphitheatre- not enough time to take photographs or buy gifts. We almost lost the guide on the way out. The visit to the restaurant took up too much time - took ages to get there. We would have preferred more free time in Pula and Rovinj.

Loved the trip got to see a lot. As a suggestion it would have been really good if the trip was seeing pula in the morning and Rovinj and giving us more free time in each place with maybe an option to visit the Istrian farm for much of wanted? Also we were staying in Vsar and were first for pick up, seemed unnecessary to be first as we then picked up north of the coast to come back down again. A trip to Porec would have been good to add to your trips. Just a thought ??

Fabulous places to visit and the lunch in the farm was great. Not ideal being picked up first from Vrsar then going back up to Porec then back down to Pula, made the journey very long. Would have liked more time in the places we visited

Great tour, went very smooth and tour guide (Ratko) was very knowledgeable! Good local architecture seen, amphitheater was amazing to see. Went for lunch to a beautiful restaurant, food was great - maybe something else for kids needed as they food wise as they were expected to eat what the adults were. Free time was good in places we stopped although maybe a bit rushed. (45/50 mins at each stop) Would recommend!

Rovinj in the morning was great as the narrow cobbled streets were relatively quiet. We were informed that it gets very crowded later on. We headed to the church & bell tower, 4€ 189 steps is optional and we were pre warned of it's state, not for the faint hearted or those with vertigo but good views from top Really enjoyed the relaxed lunch, food was good and plentiful with the local wine served. Pula has a great history too, loved the Arena, Recommend this trip.

Overall it was a fabulous trip. Our guide, Tin, was amazing - really knowledgeable and interesting to listen to, as well as having a good understanding of what would make an enjoyable day for the group. He really made it! There was a really good balance of time on our own and being shown round and having the history and culture explained. The only thing I would change is having a little longer in the amphitheatre in Pula. Otherwise it was perfect, and they even catered for a vegetarian lunch.

One of the best excursions we've been on, after many years of travelling with Tui. The guide (Tin) was absolutely brilliant. Friendly, enthusiastic and full of useful and fascinating information about history and life in Istria. The places we visited were great and the lunch excellent. Definitely recommend this trip.

Wonderful day. Val our tour guide was so informative and friendly. Was always attentive and answered everyones questions. We saw and learned so much we would not have got from a book. The lunch that was included was all home cooked and amazing. Her local knowledge and history were suberb . Highly recommended. ,

Fantastic tour and so worth it. Our Guide Felip was fantastic and made the trip so worthwhile. So knowledgable and great sense of humour. Lots of interesting facts and places. Lunch stop somewhere that we would never have found. A true gem off the beaten track. Delicious and so hospitable.

The tour was great. Our guide was passionate about Croatia and very informative. We learnt more about Istria’s complex history - exactly what we had hope for from this trip. The lunch was exceptional and had a really homely feel. The bus journey itself was a good part of the trip too. Would definitely recommend!

This tour gave us the opportunity to visit beautiful and interesting areas near Porec. The guide was really informative - it was great to have a guide that came from the. area too. Lunch was delicious and something we wouldn’t otherwise have tried. Great value for money overall.

Our guide, Mauro was excellent, he had a largely English speaking group and also had to translate the tour into German which he did very well whilst allowing 'free-time' for the other section of the group. The content of the tour was brilliant and covered amazing aspects of Istrian history. Transfers times and general journey time was great too. The agro-tourism lunch was a fantastic part - only improvement to make would be to add dietary requirements to the booking page.

Disappointed we didn't see more of the Agrotourism but food excellent. Tour or more info would have been nice. Not informed enough about pickup as had a taxi for part of trip and not informed. Guide was excellent and knew her stuff.

We loved this trip, especially with Vladana's guiding and information. She was passionate and knowledgeable throughout, with extremely good linguistic skills. She was accommodating for a member of the party with disabilities and my own allergy. The only issue we have is not being able to pay in cash to our resort rep. With Tui now apparently "doing everything online" or "through the app" it meant the currency we had exchanged prior to the trip was essentially pointless. As this was our honeymoon we are desperately disappointed at this lack of ability to go on the excursions we had planned, with no prior warning. Overall I cannot falter the trip, but the Tui customer experience is poor at best.

Tin was an excellent guide.the amount and depth of information was just right. He’s friendly, approachable Abs professionell. Bothe drivers, the one of the tour bus and the driver who picked us up from the hotel were great, too.
