Wat te verwachten
Deze excursie van een halve dag staat in het teken van de natuur, smaken en cultuur van Kefalonia. Dankzij je gids kom je meer te weten over de spirituele kant van het eiland tijdens een stop bij een klooster. En je bezoekt een haven waar onechte karetschildpadden vertoeven. Je gaat ook naar een winkel in de buurt om lokale producten te proeven. Een van onze lokale gidsen, Thaleia, vertelt: “In het voorjaar migreren onechte karetschildpadden naar de kust van Kefalonia om hun eieren te leggen. In de haven van Argostoli heb je een goede kans om ze tussen de aangemeerde boten te zien zwemmen.”Eerst ga je naar de haven van Argostoli, waar je met een beetje geluk de schildpadden spot als ze in de buurt zijn. Daarna bezoek je een lokale winkel om olijfolie, zoete mandola, honing en Robola-wijn te proeven. Van hieruit ga je naar het klooster van Agios Gerasimos.Deze plek bestaat al sinds 1560 en wordt beschouwd als een van de heiligste plekken van het eiland. Je neemt een kijkje in het klooster en je gids vertelt je alles over de geschiedenis en de kleine gemeenschap van monniken die er wonen.

Lovely air conditioned coach picked us up on time firstly went to Argostoli and saw the turtles then to explore the monastery did wine tasting olive oil tasting and some sweeties (Yum Yum) went to St George’s Castle where you had the opportunity to explore or have lunch we opted for lunch in the local restaurant, which was very good value and tasty The guide (Wendy). was fantastic put the right amount of information over very well We would highly recommend this tour

The service, staff (both the lovely guide, Wendy, and the driver, Spiros), and quality of the experience all great. Issue was time: advised it was a 2-4hr tour, but it was close to 9. Wouldn't have taken a child on such a long trip had we known. Value for money is low as we were expecting to be back at our all-inclusive for lunch: instead, we had to spend a lot of money eating out in a restaurant. Overall, tour is good but hugely misrepresented.

What spoilt the tour massively was when we joined another TUI excursion at agrostoli harbour for the talk and viewing of the sea turtles (this was planned as our guide informed us of this enroute) The real disappointment came was when we arrived at our final stop, Kastro, to view the ruins. The 2nd TUI group arrived at the same time TUI knew there was only 1 restaurant open which meant ridiculous wait times and us leaving our meal unfinished so we didn't miss the return coach This was also late

We really enjoyed the trip however it would be better to stagger the TUI coaches as the taverna struggled to cope with 2 coaches at the same time . This was at St George’s castle

Very enjoyable trip. Quite a lot was packed into half a day... turtle watching, wine and olive oil tasting with opportunity to buy, visit to the Monastry, old church and beautiful grounds wonderful! Ended with a walk up to the Castle...amazing views!! Then a lovely lunch at a nearby restaurant also with fabulous views. Our guide Wendy was great, very knowledgeable and friendly. The bus was a little tight but all in all a fabulous day.

Lovely trip including seeing the Turtles in Argastoli Bay, Winetasting ( a great selection of gifts here) Visit to a Monastery then a Castle with two excellent Tui guides. Bought lunch at a super Taverna near the Castle with grand views plus seeing beautiful views of Kefalonia from the coach on the tour. Only one criticism, we would have liked to set off half an hour later to be able to get breakfast beforehand or had the opportunity to sit for breakfast included on the tour - thank you

We enjoyed the relaxed pace and the Guides were excellent. We felt a small tweak to the itinerary that included maybe an opportunity to visit a bakery in Argostoli to grab a coffee and a traditional pastry before going to see the turtles would have enhanced the experience as there was not the opportunity to have breakfast before we left. This would also be in keeping with the theme of the tour.

The wine tasting could be improved by ensuring there are enough glasses and tasters for everyone in the party. We all really enjoyed the turtles and the monastery visits.

The turtles and monastary were great. The castle stop was good, glad we paid the extra €3 each to go in castle - it may all be mostly ruins but views were amazing. Wish we had a bit more time at the monastary, felt half hour wasn't enough. The "new" church was amazingly decorated and huge. The TUI guide Memi was great, told us loads of info when on coach about a range of subjects. Felt like the tasting stop was unnecessary - too many people in a small space. Wine was nice though. Overall great.

Couldn't fault the rep. Mimi. Very knowledgeable and always counting heads. Thw tour itself lacked time, it felt rushed. Only small snippets in one area. Would have preferred longer time with the turtles as we had to get up early to see them. During the tasting, a huge cockroach ran over my foot!!! I dont drink alcohol and that part was wasted on me. The castle!! We had to pay 3 euros to actually enter it! I felt that took the mick, it should have been included!

Loved seeing the turtle in the harbour and enjoyed the expert’s talk. The tasting session was fun also. The trip up to the monastery and castle was great to see how beautiful that region of Kefalonia is. The only thing that would have been handy to know is how much walking was involved. We had a registered disabled person in our group and whilst we managed the walking mostly it would have been good to know in advance. We weren’t able to walk up to the castle for example.

Really enjoyed the monastry. Beautiful grounds and churches. Well worth a visit. Rep not particularly bothered about safety. Laughed about head counts and leaving people behind although luckily for her no one was. Wasted time just hanging around with no direction of what we were doing or going. Not impressed with information about the journey or history compared with the rep on Saturday who was really knowledgeable. Would like more time in city centre to browse shops.

We were dragged around in unbearable heat. No consideration to weather conditions at the time of the tour. We were left in the middle of nowhere at the hottest time of the day and confined to the sitting in restaurant. It was not worth the effort or money paid for it.

An enjoyable experience. My main attraction to this excursion was to see the turtles and to see a bit more of the island. I marked it down to the coach being 50 minutes late on pick up with no message to say why running late etc. Hanging around in the heat from 7:15- 8:10 , missing our full breakfast, didn't start off very good. This also meant that others were waiting by the turtles for us during this time and then felt a little rushed when we got there. Enjoyed the wine tasting and castle.

Got overcharged by our tui rep who actually tried to charge 10% more than what's stated online. Over sold the experience, said the turtles would put a show on. They just popped their heads up. Old people from the tour were passing out in the exposed heat. The wine tasting earned the business a lot of money but was a bit pointless. Plus crammed in a small space. I could go on but running out of space. Spiros and katerina made the trip, wonderful, professional people.
