What better way to spend a few hours than discovering and savouring the delights of Mahon, Menorca's history-steeped capital? On this morning tour, you'll enjoy a harbour boat trip, have free time to explore the old town on market day and visit a historic distillery. Nicola, one of our expert local guides, says, ‘If you scratch beneath the surface, you'll find the British influence in many older buildings such as sash windows, panelled doors, lunettes and more. A uniquely Menorquin touch is the ruby-red paint on these houses.'First up is a glass-bottom boat trip in Mahon harbour – the second largest in the world. Glide between fortified islets and admire the opulent villas lining the waterfront on either side. Some date from the 18th century, when Menorca was a British colony. Next, it's on to the old Xoriguer gin distillery. Menorca's favourite tipple has been made here, using the same recipe, since 1736 – yet another symbol of the island's British heritage.There's also free time to wander around Mahon under your own steam, admiring its Georgian town houses, baroque churches, palm-lined squares and narrow, cobbled streets. Head to the centrally located Plaza del Carme, where there's a market of vendors hawking everything from cured meats to fresh fruit under the cloisters of a 17th-century convent. The local square-shaped cheese is highly regarded throughout Spain.

The tour was great as only half full so gained a lovely relaxed experience of not being crowded on the coach and boat. Boat trip was lovely and informative. Thoroughly enjoyed the day. Cannot fault. Daniel the Tui tour guide was professional and friendly. The only downside was the long walk in the heat from the coach park at the harbour to the boat. It would have been better to be dropped off right by the boat then the coach could go back to the coach park. That was the only negative.

Nicola our guide was absolutely fantastic. Her knowledge of the island was amazing and I learned so much. The free time around Mahón was perfect, the gin tasting was great fun and the boat was the absolute highlight. We felt very well looked after throughout and would highly recommend this trip.

The trip was very enjoyable overall. The only aspect was our guide although very friendly and helpful was very difficult to understand what He was saying. Maybe it was a combination of a strong Spanish accent and a faulty microphone on the coach. Regarding the distillery visit there were two Tui groups at the same time with two guides doing a presentation at the same time. Perhaps one Guide should have done it to the whole group. Obwohl sehr viele Deutsch mit an Bord waren, gab es alle Infos zur Hafenrundfahrt nur in Englisch und Spanisch, obwohl Deutsch möglich gewesen wäre. Mahón ist eine Reise wert.

The guide gave plenty of island information during the transfer to Mahon, was very informative and friendly. The harbour boat tour was a really enjoyable part of the trip with lots of information regarding the history of the area and the buildings on the sides of the harbour and all staff were friendly. The distillery tour was a free for all sampling session with very little organisation and no actual tour of the distillery. Mahon was a lovely place to spend some free time, overall a good day.

The guide gave us an interesting overview and history of the island that was interesting and not boring. The boat trip around the harbour wasn't crowded and again interesting and having some lovely views. The gin tasting was good with a variety of flavours. You could try as much gin as you liked and we're not hurried. We had a walk round the market and a tasty lunch. All round enjoyable experience.

Slightly overpriced for the half day experience. Boat trip was very good and very informative. Gin distillery was disappointing as no explanation of the actual gin making, guide did his best to talk about the gin but basically was just reading off the labels. Market experience could have been a little longer so that we could have enjoyed possibly getting lunch and exploring the shops, church etc.

Tour slightly discombobulated,,,,,,,,harbour first for boat trip, then into Mahon centre for free time and then back to harbour for Gin distillery. The walk from the harbour bus park to the boat is too long......maybe the coach could drive nearer, drop people off then return to the coach park to park up.

We had arranged this trip for the Saturday of our stay but a smaller coach had been sent which meant that there were only four seats left available. Along with our group of four there was another group of four and a group of three. We and the group of three agreed to reschedule for the Tuesday. This was fine with us but would have most preferred the Saturday as we already had another excursion booked for the Monday.

Enjoyed harbour tour, very interesting. Gin distillery tour was limited to drinking small samples of gin. More of a marketing opportunity! Really enjoyed time spent in Mahón town, very attractive and interesting town. Our guide was excellent in every respect.

We (group of 5) all thoroughly enjoyed this trip. Nicola made it for us as she was so knowledgeable, friendly and approachable. Gin tour could be a little more organised perhaps have a taster ready on arrival as some people are very keen and time here is limited. Overall an enjoyable trip.

I feel the trip was far too expensive for what it is. The boat trip was only €18 if you booked it yourself and the gin distillery was free to enter which meant you are paying €27 for the bus which is very expensive. Also the distillery is not working on a sat so you can’t see it in action, we should have been told that when we booked and we might have gone on the tue. Overall very disappointing for the money.

Our guide Francis was amazing, he really made the trip very enjoyable. He was really knowledgeable and very entertaining too. He gave us interesting commentary on the way to Mahon as well as what to expect when we arrived. He was informative at the distillery and when we arrived in Mahon centre he was very detailed telling us where everything was . I believe his input made this trip the success it was. I wouldn't change anything. Big up Francis!

The boat trip was really good although the commentary was really muffled and there was no opportunity to look at the sea life as too rough at the mouth of the harbour - could they not have stopped in a slightly more sheltered area?! Nothing that TUI was responsible for though. Might have been good to be given a map of Mahón town so we could navigate easier

Boat trip was brilliant. Gin distillery very disappointing - too many people in the place, not enough time or space for everyone. Some chat about gin making would have been good and time to taste a few varieties as could not even get near the table as it was busy. Coach driver and guide were good and helpful and the guide had some good historical facts about the Island that were interesting.

Our guide Nicola was really knowledgeable and informative. If we had any questions she was able to answer them. Everything was kept to time which was needed on a trip of this kind. It was nice to experience something that we would not have normally thought of. Of course if we had booked the boat trip by ourselves it was cheaper however it would have cost more to get there. I would definitely recommend the trip

A guided tour round the market in Mahon was supposed to be an option. No such tour was offered. We were just dropped at the bus station and get back in 2.5 hours. Taken to distillery. No tour. The guide gathered us round a table with several gins on. He read the labels to us to tell us the various flavours and said they're distilled in those copper vats over there (pointing bt not moving.Help yourselves to the gins and put the glasses in the bin.. 15 walk to boat leaves in 30 min. See you.

We weren’t told by the rep when booking the trip that there was a bit of walking between the gin distillery and the boat trip. As I am asthmatic and have a knee problem this was a chore, not only this we had to return to the coach via foot also. I was not the only person to make comments regarding this. We would have certainly had a rethink about the excision had we been told. The tour guide was informed of our concerns at the time.

The boat is way too small. The chambers are cramped, you only have 4 minutes to view. We had a very disappointed child asked to leave the viewing chamber after 4 minutes. The Gin distillery is only a shop. We weren’t informed that we only had 2 hours free time in Mahón. Totally rushed. We ended up paying to go back into Mahón the following day. The rep was rude. Was asked to move from our bus seats for no reason atall. Felt like a total waste of money. Would definitely not recommend.

Very interesting commentary from Nicola about the fascinating history of the island, our destinations and tips for enjoyment of each part of the trip. Boat was so serene but I would contradict the onboard narration which said there would be plenty of time for all to go below for underwater viewings. I had just bought a coffee and because of the numbers going below, decided not to queue so waited patiently. Then the engine kicked in and we were off! Mahon and the gin factory did not disappoint!

The guide, Ali, was excellent. And I enjoyed all of the trip, particularly the boat trip.

Tour guide Nicola was the best guide I have ever had. Her knowledge of the island and the history she shared with us was brilliant. She is an asset to the company I wouldn't hesitate to go a tour with Nicola again. Everything about the trip was fab. Probably could of spent a bit more time at the gin distillery due to the qué to get served with the cruise ships being in port. Coach driver was very polite and felt at ease with his driving. Overall brilliant day out.

The boat trip was good but I was told we would be on it for a hour then go around the market then a trip back for a hour. But it wasn't it was just a circle boat trip which lasted 1 hour not 2 hours. The gin tour was not a tour it was a shop with a few testers af gin ,which was no good for me 9 and 13 year old so that was a waste of money completely

Good tour to go on, great to be able to sample some of the various Gins. River trip also good to experience with a good comentry of all the historic buildings along the banks. Mahon is a good city to explore although the booking information regarding Mahon free time missed out that there is a fantastic indoor market to find, adjacent to the church of Nostra Senyora de carme. There could be a more comprehensive description for the TUI reps at the Hotel to provide at time of booking.

Gin distrilery tour was only a gin tasting 15 minutes .not suitable for families with children Boat ride was good thou glass bottom windows needed a good clean

Mahon market ok although expected a bit more. Had time to wander, check out some shops & sit & enjoy a coffee. The harbour boat trip was fabulous, cannot fault. It wasn't until after we booked that I noticed the gin distillery visit was not actually a distillery tour but just a shop visit in a distillery which was a little disappointing. However got some gin to bring home & the rest of the excursion was well worth the money. Just needs to be clearer that not a distillery tour.
