Leaving the north of the island, you'll journey into the centre, where the landscape switches between pine forests and fertile plains. As you pass through rustic villages, your expert guide will share the history and legends attached to each one. Stop in Vatoussa for coffee and a breakfast of fresh omelettes and pastries. Next, we'll visit the Geological Museum in Sigri, to see fossilised trunks and the modern versions of these species side by side. Finally, we'll head to Skala Eressos, which is famous for its beach, clear water, and cosy taverns.

Ziet veel van het westen van het eiland. Interessant om het versteende woud en het museum te zien. Het had duidelijker mogen zijn wat ongeveer tijden zouden zijn van wanneer je op welke plek zou zijn. Eet stop was erg laat, gecombineerd met zwemmen beide lukt niet in de tijd.

Alex is een leuke gids die heel veel over het eiland kan vertellen. Laatste stop was te lang, in de haven kon je niet zwemmen, dus 2 uur wachten in de hitte. Verder veel gezien, het klooster prachtig en het leukste de verrassing aan het eind: de schildpadden ??.

Wat deze tour de moeite waard maakte was volgens ons het bezoeken van de versteende bomen en het museum. Het klooster was een aardige toevoeging. De tijd in de bus was wel erg lang en de verschillende stops (die over het algemeen niet zo veel te bieden hadden) leken vooral zo te zijn samengesteld om de busreis richting de versteende bomen dragelijker te maken. Maar desalniettemin een erg gemakkelijke en relatief voordelige manier om een mooie impressie van dit deel van het eiland te krijgen.

Het museum en het klooster zijn leuke activiteiten. Het plaatsje Sigri heeft niets te bieden. Er was tijd voor lunch bij het enige restaurant. Het beloofde zwem en strandbezoek zat er niet meer in ik begrijp dat het rijden in de bergen veel tijd kost. Door de lange reistijd zou het leuk zijn als er meer over de omgeving verteld wordt. Dat vind ik interessanter dan een saai verhaal uit de mythologie. Maar ieder zijn ding. Je bent er een dagje op uit en zeker een leuk dagje.

de chauffeur en de reisleiding was prima. Ik vond het klooster niet bijzonder. Wel was het indrukwekkend dat het aan deze kant van het eiland een totaal ander landschap was. Ook het versteende woud museum vond ik leuk om te beleven.

Het gebied was prachtig, de chauffeur reed netjes en zorgvuldig.
De reisleidster, was bijzonder. Het leek alsof we op schoolreis waren. Alles werd van papier voor gelezen. Elk woord werd verkleind en overal werd enzo axhter gezet. Dit kwam erg onprofessioneel over.
