What to expect
Visit two must-see places in Avignon with this combined ticket including entrances to the Palais des Papes and the Pont d'Avignon.Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Palais des Papes was built in the 14th century and consists of two buildings: the old palace of Benedict XII and the new palace of Clement VI. Thanks to the HistoPad provided at the beginning of the visit (except from May 5 to 29, 2025), dive into the Middle Ages and relive the daily life of the first popes of Avignon. During this virtual experience, you will be amazed by the immensity of this largest medieval fortress and the biggest Gothic palace in the world! The 15,000 square meters of living space are the equivalent of 4 Gothic cathedrals. At the end of the visit, climb up to the terraces of the Palais des Papes. They offer a superb view over the main courtyard of the palace but also over the city of Avignon and the Rhône!Continue your visit on the Saint-Bénezet bridge, otherwise known as the Pont d'Avignon, built-in the 12th century it initially boasted 22 arches but is now down to 4, having been frequently damaged by wars and floods over the centuries. A seemingly never-ending renovation period ensued until the 17th century. The audio guide will allow you to learn much more about this legendary monument's fascinating history!

Due to a large number of steps, the visit is not accessible to people with reduced mobility
Know in advance:
Due to the preparation of numerous cultural events, and in order to preserve your experience of the monument, the Palais des Papes is adapting the tour itinerary. From May 05 to 29, visitors will enter and leave via the Benedict XII gardens, located at the rear of the monument. During this period, the local provider will not be able to distribute histopad tablets, nor to offer you the usual lockers or baby-carrier services. Thank you for your understanding
The combined ticket is valid until the following evening with only one entry per site. The Pont d'Avignon can be visited whenever you like for 24 hours after the barcode ticket has been scanned at the Palais des Papes
Pont d'Avignon: the site is completely accessible to disabled visitors; specific commentary for the visually impaired and additional tactile devices are available
Free entrance for children under 8, job-seekers and disabled visitors
The rooms closed to visitors are the chamberlain's and notary's rooms

Achat des places sur internet. Ça m'a permis de passer sans trop d'attente. Pour le reste visite avec la tablette prêtée par le palais des papes sympa, juste qu'on ne nous a pas donné d'explication sur son fonctionnement, jusqu'à ce que je demande à quelqu'un pendant notre visite

Non réception du second billet cumulé. Temps perdu à l'accueil pour expliquer notre soucis. Impossible de retrouver le second billet. Heureusement un responsable nous laisse tout de même entrer après 20 minutes d'explications. Pas facile de s'y retrouver dans tous les méandres de votre application, j'aurais du prendre mes billets directement au Palais des Papes.

All going well with downloaded ticket until I stepped inside the building, then poof, gone! I had taken a picture as a precaution but it only had one barcode. Staff were brilliant and allowed us through as they could see 2 tickets had been purchased

The on line instructions for downloading the ticket did not work which caused problems getting admitted to the palace. Once we got past the security gate the museum staff were helpful in contacting TUI to check the booking.

La visita al castello dei Papi è stata molto interessante ed istruttiva.
Il biglietto comprendeva anche i giardini ed il ponte.Onestamente i giardini dovrebbero essere parte integrante della visita al castello non ho trovato che fossero un plus.Interessante invece la visita al ponte ed i video.

Il tablet fornito come guida è adatto a dei bambini non agli adulti. C' è troppa gente all' interno e troppo caldo e l'interno del palazzo è completamente spoglio .
Accesso e visita impossibili per disabili o anziani ! Magari sarebbe meglio avvertire prima di far acquistare il biglietto !

Une fois que nous ayons compris ce qu'il fallait faire avec la tablette, nous avons trouvé les informations intéressantes. On dirait que les papes et leurs cour passaient de bon moments... Le pont est fantastique. La petite chapelle au milieu est aussi jolie dehors que dedans.

j'ai trouvé cette visite du Palais des Papes très intéressante et surtout très bien documentée et vraiment accessible grace à la tablette interactive, salle par salle, avec en plus le plan complet du palais.
