First up is a coastal tour of Cotubanama National Park, then you'll stop at a natural pool for a dip before heading to the beach for lunch and free time. Ramon, one of our expert guides, says, ‘Our priority is to protect our pristine environment and all the species that make Saona so special. We were the first country to protect manatees by law, and we have a turtle conservation programme here on the island, too.'After a relaxing cruise over to Saona, the sightseeing can begin in earnest. You'll cruise the shoreline of the Cotubanama National Park while your local guide points out the island wildlife. See the rocks of El Peñón, and then glide through the Catuano channel. Next, it's time to cool off in the azure water of the natural pools, formed by sandbanks in the open sea. The water is such a tempting shade of blue you won't be able to resist.Docking at one of Saona Island's fabulous beaches, you'll step off the boat for some beach time. There's the Caribbean for paddling, soft white sand to dip your toes in, and a volleyball pitch to play on. Or you could take the simplest option and just stretch out in the sun. Main issue was the toilet on the catamaran which did not lock. Apart from this the experience itself, pick up, island drop off, food, drinks and service were all great.

Guide spoke mainly Spainish the whole trip , most of the instructions were in Spanish took 2hours to get to the dock not the 40 minutes as suggested then had just over hour on the island ,there was only rice to eat as all the food had gone .the driver of the speedboat walked up and down with his hat out fir a tip if you didn’t tip him he didn’t help you get of the boat

We originally booked the Saona supreme experience with the private beach but when we were getting picked up the tour guide was very rude and dismissive and didn’t want to communicate with us. We think he might have crossed the wrong name off and was waiting for “Jacqueline” and simply said no to us. We ended up doing the normal tour with public beach which was nice but the beach was very busy with so many boats coming and going where people were in the water that it wasn’t enjoyable

Le trajet en catamaran était magnifique mais l’arrivée sur l’île décevante. Le guide était trop axé sur l’alcool, et les promesses d’activités culturelles n’ont pas été tenues. L’île, censée être paradisiaque, était bondée avec des chaises en plastique sur une plage pas propre,une nourriture médiocre. la sécurité laissait à désirer, surtout quand on devait changer de bateau avec des enfants. le chemin du retour, on a pu découvrir une petite plage vraiment paradisiaque ce qui a sauvé la journée

The tour guide basically vanished on the island-no info.No snacks during the travel to and from island. We were packed like sardines on the catamaran and the speed boat. There were hundreds of people on the Saona Island , hard to take photos, seaweed and trash on the beach. Nothing like advertised! We got soaked wet on the speed boat ride back from the island, then thrown in the cold bus. We were miserable. Then, the tour guide decided to take a 45 min stop at an overpriced shopping center..

Wir haben auf der Insel 45.00 Minuten auf das Boot gewartet ohne Informationen des Reiseführer Er sass bei den Anderen und hatte keine Zeit um genau Angaben zu gehen schade. So hätten alle noch länger Baden können oder auf der Liege bleiben können.aber ohne Informationen kann der Kunde nicht anfangen Schade.

Kids really looking forward to speedboat journey which didn’t happen as one engine not working any journey took 2 hours. Boat staff drinking alcohol at the bar witnessed . Limited drinks at bar as in one type of alcohol and soft drink. No seating space on boats all packed in with no room. Really enjoyed sand banks and beach on Denis island. Toilet facilities disgusting. Food ok but put of with flies. Staff very pushy to sell pictures you don’t want in that waking you up from sunbathing to buy

It was the worst experience ever we spend 13 hour on our experience 7:00 till 20:00 peck up from our hotel Riu Republica at 7:00 by the driver Julio who was very professional and helpful by coach with 50 persons family with kids who were two infants arrived time at the boat transfer at 10 we spend on the boat 2 hours at the natural lake 30 minutes we had lunch at 14:30 the food was poor drink just small and we spend only 1:30 minutes on Saona Island whit beach full of vendors and dirty toilets

We were informed transfer to the port would be 1 hour 15 mins and the same on the way home. Transfer was almost 3 hours both ways. Too long and not as sold to us. The actual excursion, island, boat trip all great. Do not stop at service station on way home. Too late. People are tired. Blatant money making extortion scheme. Ridiculously over-priced items.

Heel fijne uitstap. Leuke sfeervolle tocht op de catamaran, fijne tussenstop in de “natural pool”, lekkere lunch en meer dan voldoende vrije tijd op een toplocatie, en een snelle boottrip terug. Het overstappen telkens van boot naar boot was iets minder, maar dat gaat waarschijnlijk moeilijk anders. We hadden er zelf geen last van, maar voor de oudere mensen in de groep was dit toch niet simpel. Vanuit Punta Cana was het wel 2 uur op de bus op en 2 uur terug, maar dat hoort erbij :-)

The trip was a long day but it was planned very well. We left at 7:50 and got back to the hotel for 7:30pm. However, the waters at Saona island are worth it compared to the beach at the hotel. Our tour guide Obama was great

I thought the trip was brilliant, rueben was fantastic, he’s a knowledgable guy who knows about the area and is very familiar with the area. Genuinely thought the trip was superb and the coach driver was very friendly and helpful as well. It’s a trip I’d recommend anyone coming to the DR to do.

So we were offered no drinks a few cokes and rum on boat. But they give u like 3 and then in island food was disgusting nothing to eat not much left over with no drinks servers . We were offered no drinks on the island and then nothing all day ! Was appalling for value for money and to be advised would be free bar and nothing available to drink disgusting

De catamaran reis was leuk maar het eiland tja geen bounty eiland . Daar is het echt veel te druk voor. Alles is erg gericht op dingen verkopen , vanaf dat je in de bus gaat zitten tot de laatste stop. Ik snap dat ze er graag aan verdienen, dit ging wel erg ver Het was jammer we hadden beter naar onze reisbegeleidster moeten luisteren.

From start to finish it was awful. Bus was 30 minutes late when you get off the bus to get on boats it’s absolute chaos. People pulling you on the streets to try and buy stuff and the toilets at the port was disgusting! A lady was sat by the toilets with a small piece of toilet roll that you had to tip her to get some! The boat ride is long to get to the island and once we got there and had the buffet food it was disgusting! Swarms of flies all over food and dining tables. Didn’t see any starfis

La plage est superbe, le speed boat et le catamaran étaient super, la nourriture n'était pas assez variée, le guide ne parlait pas français comme nous l'avions demandé. Mais ce fut quand même une excursion inoubliable.

Unglaubliche Landschaft, aber dafür insgesamt 12 Stunden sind deutlich zu lange. Ablauf: 1,5h vom hotel zu einem Rastplatz, 30min warten, umstieg in anderen Reisebus (sehr kalt), nochmal 1h fahrt, 30min am Hafen warten, 1,5h mit katamaran zum baden (sehr überfüllt), 30min mit Katamaran zur Insel, 2h auf der Insel (komplett überfüllt, essen naja), 1h mit speedboot zurück, 1h mit Bus, 30min an einem souvenirshop, umstieg in anderen bus zum hotel. Also insgesamt sehr mühsam aber schöne Bilder

Het was leuk, alleen we gingen met een harde speedboot terug en we moesten heel erg lang in de bus zitten (5 uur) omdat we langs allerlei resorts moesten. En we kregen 40 minuten de tijd om te shoppen. En dit duurt gewoon extra lang na zo’n lange dag.

Verpflegung allgemein war lächerlich. Katamaran war alt und klein. Der Fahrt dauert zu lange und Insel war überfüllt. WC und Essen,Gertränke sowie der Strand waren katastrophal. Ich war das letzte Mal von 12 Jahren dort inzwischen wird damit nur noch versucht möglichst kostengünstig Geld zu verdienen.

The whole experience of Saona Island was amazing one of the best trip in DR and it’s definitely something you should not missed out on. The trip it’s long but that was okay only two things I did not like was the buffet lunch could be prepared better and second outside toilet they have sink to wash your hands but the water running yellow and literally stink as it’s coming from sewer right next to the toilet. I did not drink drop of water on the island just in case

The tour is brilliant value for money and the Island is absolutely beautiful! Great for swimming. The number of people going is a bit challenging for the infrastructure at times but the staff and guides have got it down to a fine art. Lunch was good and Rueben was fantastic as ever - total legend!

Wir waren von 7:00 Ihr bis 19:30 Uhr unterwegs, um 2 Stunden auf der Insel zu sein. Die Insel selbst ist traumhaft und wer ein paar Fotos für sein Profil braucht ist hier richtig. Aber es war eine lange Busfahrt mit anschließender langer Bootsfahrt, die nicht wirklich als Erlebnis bezeichnet werden kann. Auf der Rückfahrt muss man durchs Wasser, um ins Boot zu kommen, so dass man mit feuchter Kleidung in den klimatisierten Bus steigt.

Me gustó mucho la seguridad , el transporte y la puntualidad ! No me gustó que el guía habla mucho , propone productos para vender en el transporte y llego a mentir con botellas regaladas de Mamahuana y al final había que pagarlas con 20 dólares , Creo que escogemos un tur para disfrutar una excursión no para que se aprovechen de la oportunidad y nos estén proponiendo productos ! En todo el viaje del bus ( 3 h ) el guía solo hablaba eso fue aburrido !

No water on 3 hour bus trip. Music on catamaran way too loud , should have at least an hour quiet to admire the scenery & relax. Blue Lagoon was very shallow people stood around tried swimming to the island but it was fly infested. Water visibility zero. Island felt like a conveyor belt ,food poor & tiny cardboard cups for water/beer/ rum - the only drinks available. Oscar the guide was very good & informative. Got soaked on speedboat return & was cold. 20 min busdelay as woman promoted her rum

Great host, Johnny was brilliant. When states 8 hours you think going to be from pick up to drop off but was over 11 hours in total. Lovely trip speed boat was good island was good, lunch was tasty, best part for us was catamaran on way back really enjoyed it

This trip was absolutely amazing, the swimming spot in the sea and the island itself were breathtakingly beautiful, absolute paradise. Our guide Reuben was fabulous, we felt very looked after. The guys on the boat and the photographers were amazing too. It was a long day but 100% worth it.

Would have liked to have had option to purchase photos, when we wasn’t being battered by the sea, on the speedboat, as we couldn’t even see the iPad and ended up giving it up as a bad job. We really wanted to purchase but it was impossible

Excellent but long day out. Reuben was a brilliant host. The rum and coke there and back was an additional bonus. The beach barbecue had plenty of choice. Everything was clearly explained. The timing of stopping off points was great. Wonderful experience!

Nous sommes parti en navette de l'hôtel vers Punta Cana et nous nous sommes retrouvé dans un parking une demi heure pour attendre un bus et nous emmener vers Bayahibe. 2h de trajet en tout . sur place on oblige tout les passagers à prendre une photo avant de monter sur la catamaran ( 1 heure d'attente ) traversé un moteur en panne . Arrivé à Saona 13h15 plus rien à manger et nous sommes resté sur l'ile 50 minute lamentable pas le temps de visiter .Le guide trop pressé de nous ramené à terre pou

Guide was useless, we got picked up at 7:20 then we was going around hotels for more than 2 hours to pick up other people. Experience began after 10 when we went to catamaran to pool for 40 minutes, we have been provided with life jacket. guide was all the time on his phone. Later we went to Saona where the guide showed us out seats and buffet and disappeared. We stayed in Saona for 2 hours and got back to hotel at 19:30. We was most of the time on the road than the experience itself

Clothes, bag and money went missing. Had to return in beachwear. TUI representative not responding to complaint. Also bus was stopped to let random man on who was looking for money for local alcohol. Didn’t feel safe. Apparently TUI endorses it. If that’s the case add £20 onto each tour and get bottle as a souvenir. Not a man demanding 20 dollars / grabbing bottle from you.

This island is literally a MUST see in your life… Our tour guide, Johnny, was absolutely incredible with his care, organization and overall entertainment. Our guide Ruben Jimenez was very knowledgeable and made sure to repeat info in English, French, German and Spanish. Although sold as a private beach trip, there are so many groups that it was busier than our hotels beach and you are constantly asked to buy things from sellers on beach. Buffet wasn’t great but the island itself and journey there is stunning.

Fantastic location; I would recommend a bit more time on Saona (3 hours free) and a better barbecue since the pre-cooked meat was cold and of pour quality. Skewers could be a good addition.

Het eiland was adembenemend mooi, een stukje ongerepte natuur. Daaraan is er niets te bemerken. Alleen waren we verbaasd over de prijzen. 10 dollar voor een piña coloda, 95 dollar voor een massage. Op de terugweg hebben we de chauffeur drie maal gevraagd om de airco zachter te zetten. Iedereen in de bus was kletsnat door de terugreis op de speedboat en het voelde ijskoud. Dit verzoek werd genegeerd,daarom de lage score voor service.

Reuben was a good tour guide and made sure to repeat everything in each language. 2.5 hour coach trip with a stop for toilets, followed by either a 1 hour speed boat or a 2 hour cattamaran boat trip, stop for a swim and then get back onto the boats to go to the island. We left at 7am and only got onto the island at 1pm. We returned home at 8pm. Definitely plan when you go according to the weather forecast as we booked in advanced and it rained. Try to sell you loads of souvenirs and stop at shop

Great value for money, travelled with two different boats, swam in two locations. The food was mediocre at best but we were not there to enjoy a good meal. Our tour guide, Castro, was very knowledgeable and engaging.

Gids lag te slapen op de boot bij het natuurlijk zwembad. Daarnaast lag hij weer de hele tijd te slapen als we op saona eiland waren. De 2 begeleidende meisjes van de foto's hebben meer uitleg gegeven als hij op t eiland zelf. Wat ik ook niet prettig vond weinig Engelse uitleg wel veel in t spaans. Ook voor we op de boot waren moesten we een foto laten nemen voor we op de boot mochten. Daarna komen ze leuren om een fles te verkopen met uw foto op. Zeer misleidend

Richtige abzocke! Man ist fast 7 Stunden unterwegs um 2 Stunden anf der Insel zu verbringen! Der tui Strand ist einfach schlimmer als im Hotel (im Hotel war der Stand super) es gibt schönere Strände auf dem Insel aber tui hat es nicht schön organisiert! 2 Stunden mit dem Bus, abwarten, danach warten und auf Katamaran eins, obwohl Schnellboot gebucht wurde! 2,5stunden mit Katamaran fahren, kurzer stop mit Sternfischen zu fahren die wir nicht gesehen haben, weil tui Boot hält nicht an der Stelle!

Prestation en dessous du prix payé et de ce qui nous a été vendu par Rachel (pas adapté aux enfants). Durée de traversée trop longue (approx 2:00 vs 30min annoncées) sur un bateau en mauvais état, musique assourdissante crachée par des enceintes déglinguées, buffet passable avec file d'attente, open bar limité en soft, le tout pour se retrouver à 10.000 sur une bande de sable, pour juste 2h top chrono. Je ne mentionne pas l'autocar tombé en panne sur le trajet du retour. À revoir, totalement

Excursion à Saona catastrophique. Entassés sur un pseudo-catamaran, pas de place. Pas de poissons ni étoiles de mer. Repas sous la pluie, aucune place attitrée. Guide oppressant pour les pourboires. Bus en panne au retour, guide parti, 1h30 de ********** avec un remplaçant ne parlant pas français. Rien de magique, grosse déception.

Said 8 hours, lasted almost 13 hours. Ended up on lots of different coaches and boats with so many changes and getting on / off. Drivers were texting whilst driving, got stuck down a flood filled road which wasn’t safe yet he took us anyway, then only got 2 hours on Saona Island. Travelled longer than that on the morning alone!! The journey both ways was horrific and long. No snorkelling. Awful

Overall good day out although the part of the island we visited was dirty and unkept as the people working there didn't care about their surroundings and they didn't care much for the tourist either. Before we had our lunch the workers helped themselves to massive amounts of food and we didn't get the fresh fruit we were promised because they had taken it all to their tables.

Dans l'ensemble c'était une belle excursion. Néanmoins on s'attend à plus de confort dans les transports (le 1er bus de récupération à l'hôtel était très vétuste ; le 2ème nickel ; les catamarans et bateaux étaient également un peu vétustes et petits pour le nombre de personnes. Obligés de serrer pour tous tenir).

The island was beautiful and a lovely experience but unfortunately it was a longer day than we were informed of. Some of the staff were great and others were more interested in their mobile phones! The experience could have been better with more enthusiasm. We paid a lot for the experience and it just felt like we were another number. Due to the fact we were not truly informed about the long day we could have prepared with snacks etc. I have diabetes and it’s important that I have this.

Great tour guide (Reuben) who kept us all together and gave instructions in 4 different languages. Enjoyed the boat trips and buffet lunch. The trip to the souvenir shop on the way home was a waste of time at the end of a long day, and very expensive!

Enjoyed the catamaran & Island, the sunbeds were good. It would have been helpful to know about the rocky shoreline, some of our party cut their feet - we would have brought suitable water shoes if known. The speedboat ride back, we sat facing backwards at the front (only seats left) & was completely soaked by the waves meaning we had to sit in wet clothes all the coach ride (nearly 2hrs) back - time/somewhere to change before travelling back would have been welcomed.

The Isand is beautiful, but out of a 12 hour day, 9and a half were spent traveling. The food was inedible, the beach was dirty, the toilets were disgusting, my husband hurt his feet walking into the sea, the seabed was just rocks and broken coral, we were bombarded by offers of a massage, there was nothing to see on the Island, we were just told where the food, drinks and toilets were.The rep was not interested in the passengers at all. An utter waste of money. Everybody was complaining.

Felt harassed by the staff on the beach for massages Every two minutes a lady would touch my back and offer one even after saying no several times more time on the island prefered .Didn’t feel like it was enough time on the beach .The speed boat was fun but didn’t offer any water for the kids just coke and rum. Should not stopped on way home at the shops

Awful experience. Left hotel at 7.20. Picked up by mini van . Drove to the Rui hotel waited 20 mins for another bus travelled 20 mins to a car park to pick up more guests, another 25 mins wait . Got to port waited another 40 mins, got on 1 boat to get to catamaran, I use the word loosely, no seats, no cushions so sat on floor for nearly 2 hours. Off that and onto a boat to get to island. On island 2 hours. Then repeat. Arrived back at hotel approx 7pm . Not a good experience sat on the floor

The only downfall about this experience was it took a long time to reach the island so we only had a few hours to enjoy it. You get a boat to the island which was lovely, the staff very friendly especially the tour guide Obama, you have a few hours to enjoy the island with food and drinks included, can recommend the pina colada in a pineapple $10, then you get a speed boat back to get your coach

We were picked up before breakfast and we arrived back at our hotel at 19.30. Lunchtime was basic and the beach wasn’t as nice as at our beachfront at our hotel. We were exhausted all the hype about the island left us totally disappointed. Waste of money.

Pick up by taxi on-time and efficient. Unexplained delay of 1 hour at the port until guide and group from.Punta Cana arrived. Time spent on Saona Island too long. On return boat no life jackets provided.
