'The Palace of Knossos is one of the most important archaeological sites in Crete because it's where Europe's first civilisation began,' says Veta, one of our guides. A born and bred local, she knows a thing or two about the legends and myths surrounding the island's most popular attraction. You'll spend the day watching history come to life as you tour the grounds of the palace, before crossing over to Heraklion for some free time in the capital.Once the hub of Crete's Minoan civilisation, Knossos Palace sits in the heart of what's considered to be Europe's oldest settlement. You'll enjoy a guided tour around its treasures, stopping by the throne room, royal apartments, frescoes and more. And with fast-track access, there's no waiting around in queues.It's then time to head to Heraklion, the island's capital. See the 17th-century Morozini Lions fountain and the 400-year-old Venetian Loggia – which is still the city hall – during a short guided walk around the city centre. We'll round the day off by taking you to the open markets for some free time. Poke around stalls laden with hand-made trinkets and fresh local produce or stop off for a coffee at a local café for some people watching. Other must-sees include the Koule Fortress and the Church of Agios Titos.

We did not enjoy at all this trip. The guide wasn’t professionel either friendly. The tur was not well organized, we just going around until over 14 for lunch. We are a family with small kids, the kids were so tired all day walking around. When we were buying the tur, the seller didn’t mention at all it was like this, otherwise we would never booked the tur! It was an horrible experience!

Der Ausflug war sehr schön und hat uns sehr gefallen. Sowohl die Organisation als auch der Ablauf waren sehr gut. Besonders ist die Reiseleiterin zu erwähnen die uns durch den Tag begleitet hat. Sehr freundlich und mit einem sehr großen Wissen konnte Sie uns vieles über die Griechische Geschichte berichten. Dieser Ausflug ist sehr zu empfehlen. Vielen Dank.

Horaire respecté conforme à notre réservation. Nous ne volonté ns pas uu.e jour entière combinée avec la visite d'Heraklion. Géraldine notre hôtesse est à l'hotel, .nous à proposé d'accompagner le groupe et sommes retourner en taxi( à nos frais cela nous convenait puisque nous étions de retour pour le lunch). Maria est une guide très competente6 parle parfaitement le français et n'est avare d'explications. Elle est attentive au bien de tous..Nous recommandons à 100%. Merci Maria Géraldine

En køretur på knap 3 timer var for lang, idet der skulle samles mange gæster op under vejs. Der var ufattelig mange ved knossos og vi gik som sild i en tønde i varmen. Tre timer i Heraklion var okay. Turen var som sådan fin, men bare alt for lang køretur i det hele. Turen hjem gik bedre fordi nogle af gæsterne blev kørt i taxa, så lidt kortere tur hjem.

Guide incredibly knowledgeable and enthusiastic all day so no issue with her but as the attraction allows seemingly no limit to how many people it lets in the crowds ruined the experience. The group were continually “strung” out so when descriptions of the palace were given it was lost on those of us at the rear so had no idea what was being spoken about. In the end you completely missed the whole history and were just wandering amongst ruins having no insight into what you were seeing.

Transport was good, liked easy access and not having to queue to enter. Guide was very knowledgeable but it was difficult to see her all the time. Need to be more recognisable. Tour of the city was a good length, museum ticket should be part of the package. Update info as under 25 enter for free.

Die Führung war super!! Bereits im Bus erfuhren wir Interessantes über Kreta und die griechische Mythologie, top. Knossos war prima! Es hätte uns gefallen, wenn noch ein anderer Programmpunkt drin gewesen wäre, z.B. Zeus Höhle oder so etwas. Heraklion als Stadt gibt nicht viel her. Wir haben die 3 Stunden restlichen Aufenthalt auf eigene Faust im archäologischen Museum verbracht, war auch interessant. Aber für die Dauer der Exkursion wäre ein weiterer Programmpunkt toll.

Unser Guide Gabriele war leider etwas zu Mitteilungsbedürftig. Sie hat so viel gesprochen, dass man keine Zeit hatte den Palast nochmal selbst zu erkunden. Außerdem wirkte Sie durcheinander und war verstreut. Die Tour selbst war schön und auch der Stadt Aufenthalt hat uns gefallen

The pick up point was an hours journey from where I was staying so I cancelled at the last minute. TUI staff phoned me the evening before to confirm I would get a refund but was then refused the refund when I returned to the UK as I had no proof that the phone call had happened. TUI staff phoned me so I had no choice in the communication medium but that was then used to refuse refund. Terribly planned excursion and extremely disgraceful customer service upon return to the UK.

Die Transfers sind recht lange, unsere Tourguide war sehr gut, hat uns alles nach vollster Zufriedenheit erzählt. Am Tourtag war es für mich persönlich etwas zu warm, dadurch konnte ich den Tag leider nicht so genießen.

Pobi was very helpful and informative on the tour of Knossos palace and explained things well. Being fast tracked in was great and the arphones helped us hear the ininformation easily. Worthwhile trip so you know the history. Great! We were further back going through the town and with so much noise, felt like we may have missed some information. We did enjoy the town and shopping eating experience was very nice. Recommending the tour and Pobi and the driver. Enjoyed the day ththoroughly. :):)

Ce fut une superbe journée. Notre guide Maria est extraordinaire. On voit qu'elle a de l'expérience et à été de très bon conseils. Je pense que c'est par souci de chaleur sinon la visite aurait pu duré un peu plus longtemps selon moi. Afin de pouvoir voir un peu plus en détails certaines pièces/endroits. Aussi le temps libre juste après la visite aurait pu être un peu plus long, car un peu juste pour nous qui avons fait le musée d'heraklion.

Knossos was leuk en is een aanrader als je geïnteresseerd bent in geschiedenis. Met deze excursie heb je er een gids bij die veel over Knossos kan vertellen en dat is maar goed ook, want zonder uitleg zou het niet heel veel aan zijn. Heraklion is niet veel aan. We kregen een paar uur om er rond te lopen, maar dat was eigenlijk al te lang. Het is een oude stad, maar dat zie je er nauwelijks van af. Weinig interessante punten. Vanuit Stalis een lange reistijd vanwege vele pick-up van andere mensen

It was too crowded. Queuing in sun for half hour to see one tiny room for 2 minutes not good. Not Tui fault that 3 cruise ships where visiting. But surely different timing would mean we weren’t there at midday when at busiest.

The Palace tour was very interesting, our guide Irene was very knowledgeable. We went on 1st July and it was very hot to be stood outdoors at midday, we suggest you start the tour a bit earlier in the day during the high summer months. There wasn’t much to do in Heraklion as there wasn’t really the time to visit the Museum. So if the tour started earlier and then finished a bit later it would allow time to visit the Museum and do it justice.

Ontzettend leuke dag gehad. We hadden een hele lieve gids, Maria, die ons veel vertelde over zowel het paleis van Knossos als andere dingen over Heraklion en het eiland. Knossos zelf was ook erg leuk maar trek wel goede schoenen aan. We hadden ook nog tijd om door Heraklion zelf heen te lopen, leuke stad.

The highlight was supposed to be Knossos Palace visit. It was very busy so no fault of the guide, however after her tour there was less than half an hour of free time given to explore the ruins (minus 10 minutes queuing for toilet!). Then to be given 3 hours in Heraklion was too much time. The balance was no good in my opinion. The Palace was what I had booked the trip for. Disappointed.

Wir hatten einen super Führung . Die Intelligenz mit der Knossos erbaut wurde ist echt bemerkenswert. Eine Kombination zwischen Knossos vor Ort und Museum , wo die Originale stehen wäre sicher auch interessant.

-Tui Beraterin Tina im Hotel hat uns sehr herzlich willkommen geheißen und auch viel zu den einzelnen Touren erzählt. Wir haben dann diese Tour bei ihr gebucht und wurden nicht enttäuscht. Von der Abholung bis zum zurück bringen zum Hotel war alles super organisiert. Da es sich hier um einen Kultur-Ausflug handelt, wurde sehr viel über die Geschichte erzählt. Wir fanden es sehr interessant aber leider zu lange an einem Punkt erzählt. Tour ist empfehlenswert.

A very god tour with an excellent tour guide who is both knowledgeable and passionate. A great speaker who really brought the tour to life. Very adamant on making sure to let him know if we felt unwell in the heat and to keep hats on and hydrated. A really great experience. The following trip to Heraklion was also great and he gave further talks on local historical points of interest before leaving us for a few hours to explore in our own time. Would highly recommend.

Die Führung im Palast von Knossos war zu schnell. Mehr Zeit wäre schön gewesen. Der Transfer von Knossos nach Heraklion incl. Altstadtführung hat mal gerade 35 Minuten gedauert und dann hatten wir Freizeit bis 15:00 Uhr. Danach wurden wir ohne Reisebegleitung wieder zum Hotel gebracht und waren um 15:15 Uhr wieder zurück. Laut unserer Reisebegleitung im Hotel war das so nicht vorgesehen.

Der Ausflug nach Knossos hat sich wirklich gelohnt. Dank den Erzählungen der Reiseleiterin fühlte man sich auch direkt in die griechischen Sagen hineinversetzt. In Hiraklion hat sie uns dann zu bedeutenden Sehenswürdigkeiten geführt und danach hatte man genügend Zeit die Dinge, die einen interessieren ausgiebig zu bewundern bzw zu shoppen und essen.

Le bus était très bien, la guide était extrêmement gentille. Malheureusement elle maîtrisait mal le français. L’excursion était mélangée avec des étrangers et donc elle jonglait entre 2 langues en permanence. Elle se répétait tout le temps et n’a donné que très peu d’informations. Knossos palace was much too crowded, why go there on days when you know cruise ships will be arriving? The guide was very knowledgeable but unfortunately it was too much information to take in. I would have liked more time to explore at my own pace. It was an eleven hour day for us, but most of that time was take up with picking up and dropping off other passengers.

The pick up point for Golden Bay Apartments was Gournes Church which was a 30 minute uphill walk. We took a taxi there but our coach driver kindly took us back to the hotel at the end of the day. The pick up point should be the hotel or closer than 30 mins away. Apart from that point it was a very good day with a very knowledgeable guide and driver.

Caterina is a very knowledgeable guide, she was always available to answer all questions and told us about of myths, keeping us busy during the bus ride. However, unfortunately the bus did not picked us up in our hotel, which was a bit disappointing and we had to walk to the nearest pick up point about 30min walking far.

Sehenswürdigkeiten waren schon toll. Die Busfahrt war mangelhaft. Keine Gurte zum anschnallen, keine seitlichen Armlehnen die bei jeder Kurve hätten Halt geben können. Die Reiseleitung ist erst auf ca. halber Strecke ein und bei der Rückfahrt ausgestiegen. Geht gar nicht, wenn man nicht ortskundig ist, kaum Englisch spricht und ein Fahrgast mit körperlicher Einschränkung begleitet.

Excellent guide- very informative and passionate about the history of site. Would have liked a bit more ‘free ‘ time. Had to queue for some parts of site so that slowed things down(appreciate this was no ones fault). Enjoyed Heraklion- guide great at helping us to get orientated.

As I struggle with walking, I found the last bit of the tour very difficult to get about and struggled walking done high steps and very uneven ground, but I did thoroughly enjoy the tour

Our guide was excellent and extremely knowledgeable. Coach was lovely and Heraklion fun. Queues a bit long in the heat and although myths and legends fabulous not much of Knossos left!

The guide was very knowledgeable and interesting. It would have been nice to have a bit more time to explore Knossos on our own, as the guide only took us to the main, busy areas (which you would expect).

Die Tour beinhaltet den Transfer nach Knossos und einen Stop zentral in der Altstadt von Heraklion (fußläufig am Archäologischen Museum). Die Führung im Palast hat etwas mehr als eine Stunde gedauert und danach war noch Zeit eigenständig herumzulaufen und Fotos zu schießen. Die Führung war gut und informativ. Die Führung in der Stadt war kurz und dann war Zeit zu bummeln oder ins Museum zu gehen für 2,5 h.

Visite de Knossos était très bien. L’arrivée à Heraklion vers 12h30 et un départ prévu à 15h30 ont fait que la visite de la ville a été très superficielle : nous sommes restés frustrés. C’est dommage. Prévoir un allongement des horaires pour Heraklion.
